FINAL DEPLOYMENT UPDATE

On June 8, 2026, the Corps mobilized one of our volunteers, who happened to be already in Mindanao at the time, together with his K‑9 partners to assist in the search and rescue operations following the devastating 7.8‑magnitude earthquake that struck General Santos City earlier that morning.

Working tirelessly alongside Team Davao SAR K9 and local rescue units, they worked around the clock in the hope of finding survivors. After nearly two days of search and rescue operations, they were formally demobilized at approximately 5:30 p.m. on June 10, 2026, having played a crucial role in locating the final two missing victims in the area.

We extend our highest commendation to the volunteers, their K‑9 partners, and the support staff who answered this call despite difficult personal circumstances. Their actions embody the true spirit of bayanihan, volunteerism, and service.

Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy. We stand with the community as it mourns and begins to heal.

For many of our trainees, the goal was just to give their pets meaningful activity and discipline. But through challenges like this, we hope they also gain the confidence to respond in real emergencies with simulation exercises that prepare both handler and K-9 physically and mentally. Ultimately, the vision is for them to discover how their own dogs can become true partners in search and rescue.

FINAL DEPLOYMENT UPDATE:

What began as an ordinary training Sunday quickly turned into one of the most intense deployments we have faced to date.

On May 24, 2026, the Corps mobilized two teams composed of 12 handlers and support staff, and 12 K‑9 partners to assist in the search and rescue operations following the collapse of a nine‑storey structure in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Working side by side with rescue units from nearby towns and Metro Manila, our teams worked tirelessly around the clock in the hope of finding survivors. After nearly two days of continuous operations, they were formally demobilized at approximately 8:30 p.m. on May 25, 2026, following the transition of efforts from search and rescue to search and retrieval.
We extend our highest commendation to our volunteers and their K‑9 partners for their bravery, dedication, and selflessness in answering the call when lives were at stake.

We offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy, and we stand in solidarity with the community as it grieves and begins to heal.
