Sibalom Chess Association A voluntary organization that is promoting good moves on and beyond the chess mat

The Sibalom Chess Association has the following core values: (1) voluntarism, (2) equitable sharing of credit, (3) cost-efficiency, (4) creative publicity, (5) financial transparency, (6), protection of the native culture, and (7) consultative and participatory decision-making. The association is currently composed of more than 400 members who come from -- or are connected to -- 56 barangays which

are the following: Lacaron, Cabariuan, Biga-a, Villar, Cadoldolan, Esperanza II, Sido, Tulatula, Nagdayao, Tigbalua I, Insarayan, Egaña, Cubay Napultan, District 1, District 2, District 3, Catmon, Bari, District 4, Iglanot, Maasin, Cabladan, Millamena, Cubay Sermon, Pis-anan, Pantao, Ilabas, Imparayan, Pangpang, Esperanza I, Panlagangan, Odiong, Alangan, Esperanza III, Solong, Catungan II, Villahermosa, San Juan, Igpanolong, Olaga, Igsuming, Catungan III, Catungan IV, Villafont, Tigbalua II, Bongbongan I, Bontol, Indag-an, Bululacao, Calo-oy, Bugnay, Bongbongan II, Lambayagan, Igdalaquit, Rombang, and Calog. The association has the following subsidiaries: the Sibalom Tree-Planting Movement which was formed in 2000; the Sibalom Badminton Association which was formed in 2002; and the Sibalom Alliance for Biodiversity Conservation which was formed in 2006.

The 28th yearly edition of our tournament for chess-playing Sibalomnons, Sibalomnons-by-ancestry, and Sibalomnons-by-affinity of all ages, named Tordesillas 2024 -- Sinipal kang Chess sa Sibalom, was held at the Tordesillas Barangay Plaza on December 31, 2024. The event was a joint project of the Sibalom Chess Association, the Barangay Government of Tordesillas, and the Sangguniang Kabataan of Tordesillas.

The Pangpangagda nga Sinipal kang Chess sa Egaña 2026 will be held at the Egaña Barangay Hall on May 16, 2026, a Saturday, starting at 2:00 PM. Registration is free of charge and is open to the first 16 chess-playing Sibalomnons, Sibalomnons-by-ancestry (those who have a parent or grandparent who is a Sibalomnon), and Sibalomnons-by-affinity (those who are married to a Sibalomnon) who will express interest in participating. The event is a joint project of the Sibalom Chess Association, the Barangay Government of Egaña, and the Sangguniang Kabataan of Egaña, and is sponsored by Kenneth C. Fetiza.
