As we celebrate National Teachers’ Month from September 5 to October 5, the University of Antique Student Government joins the celebration in honoring the teachers who continue to teach, guide, and support us as students.

Our teachers do more than just teach us lessons in the classroom. They also guide us, give advice, and help us when we need it. This month, let’s take a moment to thank them for their patience, hard work, and everything they do for us as students.

In our steadfast commitment to upholding transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of student governance, the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕-𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 (𝑼𝑨𝑺𝑮-𝑺𝑪) seems it necessary to address the confusion arising from the legislative update posted on our official page last March 3, 2026.

It has come to our attention that the said post has led many members of the student community to believe that the proposed bills and resolutions were already fully approved by the university administration and are therefore ready for immediate implementation; while the measures mentioned in the previous post have indeed passed preliminary legislative stages within the Student Congress, we would like to clarify that they have 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.

In keeping with the established institutional process, these proposed legislative measures will proceed to the 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, where they will be formally presented and thoroughly discussed during the upcoming board meeting. It is within this body that the proposals will undergo further evaluation to ensure that each provision aligns with university policies, student welfare, and administrative protocols. Only after this stage of scrutiny will the board determine whether the measures shall be approved for official adoption and implementation.

The 𝐔𝐀𝐒𝐆-𝐒𝐂 recognizes the importance of providing accurate and responsible communication to the student body. As such, we sincerely appreciate the attentiveness and engagement of the kasUbAy community and remain committed to ensuring that every legislative update shared through our platforms reflects the correct status of our policy-making processes.

Good governance requires both diligence and transparency. We assure the student body that every proposed measure will continue to undergo the proper channels of deliberation before any policy takes effect. Thus, 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐥. In its 5th Regular Session, the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 – 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 has formally approved two proposed measures on their Third and Final Reading. Following comprehensive committee review and rigorous plenary deliberations, the legislative body has exercised its mandate to enact policies that reflect both inclusivity and academic integrity within the university community.

The following bills have now been duly approved:

1. “An act permitting members of the LGBTQIA+ community of the University of Antique–Main Campus to engage in cross-dressing, wear their hair down, and apply minimal make-up during authorized “free uniform days,” consistent with the university student manual and existing board policies”
2. “An act adopting a policy for the mandatory collection of electronic devices (including mobile phones, smartwatches, and tablets) during any forms of academic examinations to prevent academic misconduct and maintain academic integrity”

These measures underscore the Congress’ dual commitment: to uphold a campus culture grounded in respect and inclusion, and to safeguard the credibility of academic processes. With these approvals, the Student Congress reaffirms its dedication to responsive, principled, and student-centered governance.

The work of legislation does not end in approval—it begins in implementation. Thus, these bills must still undergo the final stages of the approval process before they can be properly implemented. May these policies be carried out with fidelity, fairness, and purpose.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐃𝐔𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍.

Following comprehensive committee review and rigorous plenary deliberations, the legislative body has concluded its process with decisive action—reflecting diligence, accountability, and a firm commitment to responsive governance.

The following resolutions have now been duly approved:

1. “A resolution proposing a new constitution to revise and supersede all previous Student Government constitutions in the University of Antique”
2. “A resolution promoting menstrual health and hygiene through the installation of sanitary pad vending machines across the University of Antique–Main Campus”
3. “A resolution establishing the secretariat of the student congress as the permanent administrative and records arm of the legislative branch.”
4. “A resolution establishing the University of Antique ‘Payong Stations’—a free umbrella-sharing program utilizing existing University of Antique Student Government umbrellas, with a deposit or student id-based borrowing system, as part of campus disaster-preparedness and climate-resilience initiatives”
5. “A resolution mandating the online publication of the constitution and by-laws by the University of Antique Student Government–Main Campus, collegiate councils, and all accredited student organizations on their respective official pages”
6. “A resolution adopting the rules and regulations (R&R) governing the University of Antique–Main Campus student center and designating the officers-in-charge”
7. “A resolution to establish Student Government bulletin board outside the university library to enhance information dissemination to the students at the University of Antique-Main Campus”
8. “A resolution on institutionalizing project pag-basa: book donation drive as an initiative to promote quality education and support literacy among children in rural areas”
9. “A resolution for the implementation of a regular cleaning and monitoring day of comfort rooms at the University of Antique–Main Campus”
10. “A resolution on the reorientation and institutionalization of semestral meetings of campus security personnel in collaboration with the Student Government and the student affairs and services office of the University of Antique–Main Campus”
11. “A resolution requesting a collaboration with the University Health Unit to provide first aid kits and implement emergency readiness measures in every department to ensure student safety and welfare”

These measures collectively strengthen institutional structure, promote transparency, enhance student welfare, and reinforce the University’s commitment to inclusive, accountable, and forward-looking leadership. The passage of these resolutions' marks not merely the end of deliberation, but the beginning of purposeful implementation. Thus, these resolutions must still undergo the final stages of the approval process before they can be properly implemented.
