Maging alerto, mag-ingat, at ugaliin ang tamang pag-iwas sa sakit. Sa panahon ng matinding init, ang pagiging handa ay proteksiyon para sa lahat! ❤️

DOH RECOGNIZES PRC FOR FLOOD RESPONSE AND SUPPORT TO HOSPITALS

The Department of Health (DOH) has recognized the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for deploying personnel to support hospitals and communities affected by flooding, helping ease the burden on healthcare workers and sustain services for patients during the emergency.

In a letter dated September 17, 2026, Acting Health Secretary Edwin M. Mercado thanked PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon for mobilizing personnel to assist healthcare facilities, including San Lazaro Hospital, and provide support to flood-affected communities.

“When our hospitals are overwhelmed, we must help ease the burden on our doctors and nurses so they can continue caring for their patients. That is why the Philippine Red Cross is there: to support our healthcare workers and make sure people receive the care they need, especially in times of disaster. I am grateful to our staff and volunteers whose dedication and readiness make it possible for us to respond when hospitals and communities need us most,” Gordon said.

Mercado recognized the PRC’s prompt response and its contribution to supporting healthcare facilities amid increased demand for medical services. The acknowledgment underscores the importance of cooperation between government agencies and humanitarian organizations in ensuring that patients continue to receive care during emergencies.

The recognition reinforces the PRC’s role as an auxiliary to public authorities in the humanitarian field, working alongside government partners to alleviate human suffering and protect the well-being of Filipinos during disasters and other emergencies.

Extreme heat can affect anyone, especially outdoor workers, older adults, children, and people with existing health conditions.

Let’s protect ourselves and our communities. Stay hydrated, seek shade, avoid strenuous activities during peak heat, and watch out for signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. If someone shows signs of heatstroke, seek emergency medical help immediately.
