Maraming salamat, Naval Command Northern Luzon, Philippine Navy!

One Meralco Foundation was recognized as one of the valuable partners of the Philippine Navy-Naval Command Northern Luzon during the celebration of its 49th Founding Anniversary at the Naval Station Ernesto Ogbinar in Poro Point, City of San Fernando in La Union.

Rear Admiral Richard N Gonzaga PN, Commander of the Northern Luzon Naval Command and Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Q Ezpeleta PN, Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy, personally awarded the Plaque of Appreciation to the Foundation for its years-long partnership in bringing light to underserved communities.

OMF has been a steadfast partner of the Naval Command Northern Luzon and other operational command of the Philippine Navy in bringing Light Up Pilipinas solar lamps to low-income households in remote communities, such as those in Camiguin Island in Calayan, Cagayan and Uyugan, Batanes.

We are a proud to work with the Philippine Navy and the Naval Command Northern Luzon in spreading the light, reaching the farthest parts of the country, and to be of service to our countrymen.

For this edition of for National Teachers' Month, One Meralco Foundation honors Silupah Elementary School Teacher-in-Charge Al-Rasul "Toni" Abidin—an educator who turned personal sacrifices into a beacon of hope for his community.

Long before stepping into the classroom, Sir Toni dreamed of pursuing Computer Science. Though life led him to teaching, his late mother told him that no matter his path, he would always end up educating young minds. Years later, his teaching assignment to a remote island in Tawi-Tawi brought that vision full circle. Faced with a bare-boned, run-down facility without basic power, Sir Toni refused to give up—braving challenging sea travels, sacrificing personal comfort, and actively seeking partners and support to rebuild the school, all to keep learning alive for his students.

Through OMF's School Electrification Program, solar power finally brought light to Silupah Elementary School. Today, the energized campus opens up endless possibilities for the island community—paving the way for Sir Toni to soon fulfill his lifelong passion by introducing computer literacy to students on an off-grid island. A meaningful in San Juan City!

More than 300 students in DepEd Salapan Integrated School received Balik Eskwela learning kits from One Meralco Foundation, led by President Jeffrey O Tarayao and Meralco employee-volunteers who took the time to spread joy to the students and parents in the school.

Each Balik Eskwela kit contains learning materials such as tracing workbook, story book, flash cards, pencils with pencil case, and crayons so that every student there from Kinder to Grade 2 have their own tools to learn at school and even at home.

Aside from that, student athletes of Salapan Integrated School were also in for a treat: the Meralco Bolts players were also present to gift them autographed basketballs as they encourage the students to excel not only in sports but also in their education.

One Meralco Foundation also turned over reading nooks to the school to encourage reading among the young learners.

We are so grateful to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and Special Assistant to the Mayor Rocco Zamora, Salapan Integrated School Principal Demie Atienza, and Office of the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Losaria for the chance to share our Balik Eskwela kits to the students, as well as to the Meralco employee-volunteers from Meralco Human Resources and Corporate Services led by Chief HR and Head of Corporate Services Hans Montenegro, and Meralco Corporate Communications led by Head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga as well as the Meralco Bolts led by Team Manager Paolo Trillo for sharing their time and blessings today.

This is just part of more than 10,000 Balik Eskwela kits to be distributed this year across the Meralco franchise and beyond. This represents more than just school supplies—they are the building blocks of a brighter, more empowered future for our young learners.

Ngiting puno ng pasasalamat 🧡

Ikinatuwa ng senior citizen na si Lilibeth Abalos ng Brgy. San Vicente sa Apalit, Pampanga na isa ang kanyang pamilya sa mga nakatanggap ng relief packs mula sa One Meralco Foundation. Kuwento ni Lilibeth, higit 1 buwan na silang nananatili sa evacuation center kasama ang kanyang 9 na anak matapos malubog sa baha ang bahay nila. Ang dating kasambahay, wala na ring trabaho nang maging person with disability (PWD) siya at hindi na makapaglakad nang maayos.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa inyo na natagpuan nyo po kami dito," sambit pa n'ya hawak-hawak ang relief pack.

Isa lamang si Lilibeth sa libo-libong pamilyang natulungan ng One Meralco Foundation sa Pampanga sa pamamagitan ng disaster response initiatives doon, kung saan kasama si OMF at Meralco Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan at ang MVP Tulong Kapatid sa pag-aabot ng tulong sa mga nasalanta sa probinsya.

Para sa mga kabalen 🫶🏼

One Meralco Foundation and Meralco Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) went back to his hometown of Apalit, Pampanga to distribute relief packs to his kabalen affected by the heavy rains and flooding brought by the Habagat.

MVP personally distributed the relief packs to those evacuated at the Jose Escaler Memorial School (Jems Apalit) located in Brgy. San Juan, where he grew up. Here, homes were submerged in deep floods, prompting them to find safer grounds.

Joining MVP in giving care packs to his kababayan are the MVP Tulong Kapatid group: One Meralco Foundation led by President Jeffrey O Tarayao, PLDT-Smart Foundation led by President Esther Santos, Metro Pacific Investments Foundation led by President Melody del Rosario, Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. led by Executive Director Menchie Silvestre, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. led by Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications Anette de Ocampo, and Makati Medical Center Foundation Executive Director Marge Barro.

More relief packs and drinking water were turned over to the municipal government for distribution to other residents in need of aid.

We are grateful for Apalit Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco Jr. (Apalit I Love It) and Vice Mayor Peter Nucom for the opportunity to spread hope and light to the communities affected by the calamity.

Teaching on this isolated island was never just a job for Teacher Cath; it was a complete act of devotion. Serving here meant leaving her own family behind, braving long mud treks, and enduring pitch-black nights without power or signal just to check on her daughter back home. Yet, night after night, she and her all-female faculty stayed. The young students on the island became their family, too—and no sacrifice was too great to empower their futures.

Meralco employee-volunteers from the Valenzuela Sector took time to visit DepEd Paco Elementary School in Obando and distribute Balik Eskwela kits to students.

Each child received a customized school kit with their own story book, a set of alphabet flash cards, a tracing workbook, a pencil case with pencils, and a box of crayons which they can use for their classes and studying at home.

Huge appreciation to our Meralco Valenzuela Sector employee-volunteers, who stepped up to support the kids and even led a fun storytelling session!

Nakarating din ang tulong sa mga residente ng Barangay San Juan sa Apalit, Pampanga, kung saan sa evacuation center na nananatili ang ilang residente dahil sa malakas na pag-ulan at pagbaha dala ng Habagat.

Kaya nagtungo ang MVP Tulong Kapatid—sa pakikipagtulungan ng One Meralco Foundation, Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc., PLDT-Smart Foundation, at Metro Pacific Investments Foundation— kasama ang tauhan ng Apalit Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office Mswdo Apalit maging ang personnel ng Apalit Police para makapagpaabot ng relief packs sa mga apektadong pamilya roon.

Bahagi ito ng disaster response activities ng Foundation na layong makatulong sa mga kababayang apektado ng mga kalamidad.
