As a parent or teacher, you know how unpredictable the school year can be. From heavy typhoons and extreme heat to other sudden disruptions, class suspensions are a reality we all face. But did you know that learning doesn't have to stop when the school doors close? To address these challenges, the DepEd Philippines issued DepEd Order No. 014, s. 2026, known as the Guidelines on Learning Continuity in Emergencies, providing necessary measures to ensure teaching and learning continue safely even under the most difficult conditions.

"Receiving the Gawad Kaakibat from the Schools Division Office of Sto. Tomas City is both an honor and an encouragement for all of us at Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI)."

For KCFI President and Co-Founder Rina Lopez, the Gawad Kaakibat is a testament to the strong partnership of KCFI and the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Sto. Tomas City. The award recognizes the organization's meaningful contributions to advancing quality education in the SDO.

In 2025, KCFI named Teacher Jonathan Mayo of San Pedro National High School in Sto. Tomas City as its Gurong May K for Basic Education, with the school also receiving a Knowledge Channel TV (KCTV) package to further enrich classroom learning. Through KCFI's Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-based Pedagogies (LEEP) Program, Teacher Jonathan strengthened his use of learner-centered, 21st century teaching strategies and curriculum-aligned video lessons in the classroom.

"We are deeply grateful for this recognition and, even more, for the partnership we share in helping Filipino children learn through engaging, accessible, and meaningful educational resources. It reminds us that when schools, teachers, and organizations work together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of learners. We look forward to continuing this shared mission and reaching even more classrooms, empowering more teachers, and inspiring more learners across the country," Lopez shared.

KCFI extends its heartfelt thanks to the SDO of Sto. Tomas City, our partner schools, and the dedicated teachers who continue to champion quality education.
