A NEW CHAPTER OF SCOUTING BEGINS!

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Manila Council proudly launches the 2026 Scouting Month Kick-Off Ceremony on October 3, 2026, at the historic Kartilya ng Katipunan in Ermita, Manila.

With the theme of unity, leadership, service, and patriotism, Scouts, leaders, and partners come together to celebrate the enduring spirit and values of Scouting.

May this celebration inspire every Scout to Lead with courage, Serve with purpose, and Live the Scout Law every day.

STOP AND SALUTE THE FLAG

Our Public Relations Chairman Scouter Zephyr Panganiban, WBH and Public Relations Commissioner Scouter Gilbert J. Tan, WBH represented the Boy Scouts of the Philippines as Flag Bearers during the Flag Raising Ceremony held on October 5, 2026 at the Independence Flagpole, Rizal Park. Our Acting Council Scout Executive, Scouter Jeffrey R. Alitagtag was also present during the said activity.

This activity is led by the Salute to a Clean Flag Movement and National Parks Development Committee in partnership with various government and non-government organizations.

Next Stop and Salute the Flag Ceremony will be held on November 9, 2026.

🇵🇭 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬: 𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟱, 𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟯 🇵🇭

On this day in 𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟯, a monumental step in Philippine youth development took place with the formal establishment of the 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 of the 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 (BSA) - the organizational foundation for what would become the 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 (BSP)!

🏕️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸:

While Scout units existed in Manila as early as 𝟭𝟵𝟭𝟬, the first documented all-Filipino troop was the 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽, formed in Zamboanga in November 𝟭𝟵𝟭𝟰 by Lt. Sherman L. Kiser and philanthropist Caroline S. Spencer with 26 young Muslim boys.

🏛️ 𝗔 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:

By 𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟯, visionary leaders like Major Philip D. Carman and Samuel Wells Stagg rallied support from the Rotary Club of Manila, YMCA, Knights of Columbus, Masons, Elks, churches, and trade chambers to establish a unified council. By December 𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟯, the BSA expanded jurisdiction nationwide as the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹.

🇵🇭 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:

This momentum led to 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟭𝟭, signed into law by 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗟. 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘇𝗼𝗻 on October 31, 𝟭𝟵𝟯𝟲, officially establishing the independent Boy Scouts of the Philippines and designating October as Scouting Month.
