Remembering, Honoring, and Keeping the Memory Alive

The Scouts of Manila joined the commemoration of the 57th Anniversary of the Ruby Tower Disaster on August 2, 2026, at the Ruby Tower Memorial Tower, Chinese Cemetery, Manila.

Together, we pause to remember the lives lost in the tragic collapse of Ruby Tower on August 2, 1968, and to honor the families and communities forever touched by this tragedy.

As Scouts, we are reminded that service goes beyond the present—it means remembering the past, honoring those who came before us, and carrying their stories forward.

May their memories continue to inspire compassion, unity, courage, and service to others.

TODAY IN HISTORY | AUGUST 2, 1968

Remembering the Collapse of the Ruby Tower in Santa Cruz, Manila

On August 2, 1968, the devastating Ruby Tower collapse struck Santa Cruz, Manila, leaving a tragic mark in our nation’s history.

In the days that followed, approximately 3,000 Scouts and Scout Leaders from different councils responded to the disaster, joining rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for the victims and affected communities.

From Manila, Pasay, Caloocan, Rizal, Quezon City, Cavite, Laguna, Cagayan, Baguio-Benguet, and Isabela, Scouts came together in a powerful demonstration of service, courage, compassion, and community spirit.

Their story reminds us that Scouting is more than skills and adventure—it is a commitment to serve whenever and wherever help is needed.

Today, we remember the victims and honor the Scouts and Scouters who answered the call to serve.

Sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa, sama-sama nating bigyang-halaga, pagyamanin, at ipagmalaki ang ating Wikang Filipino—wika ng ating pagkakakilanlan, kultura, kasaysayan, at pagkakaisa.

Sa makabagong panahon, patuloy na umuunlad ang teknolohiya at Artificial Intelligence (AI). Gamitin natin ito nang wasto at responsable bilang kasangkapan sa pagkatuto, pananaliksik, at pagtuklas ng bagong kaalaman, habang pinananatiling buhay at makabuluhan ang ating sariling wika.
