The IIEE Northern Samar Chapter successfully concluded the 3rd Batch of the 3-Day Practical Hands-On Training on Rooftop Solar PV Systems: PEC-Compliant Design, Installation & Wiring, held on September 18–20, 2026, at DLD Electrical Engineering Services – Office Extension, 2nd Floor, Shoppersville Building, Brgy. Narra, Catarman, Northern Samar.

Continuing the momentum of the previous batches, this training once again brought together electrical professionals and practitioners committed to strengthening their technical capabilities in the growing field of renewable energy.

The three-day program combined technical discussions, practical demonstrations, and hands-on activities, covering essential aspects of Solar PV systems, including system components, design considerations, sizing, protection, grounding, PEC-compliant practices, installation, wiring, configuration, and testing.

☀️ 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟭 | 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡

The training opened with the Invocation, Philippine National Anthem, and IIEE Hymn, followed by the Welcome Remarks delivered by Engr. Frederick Pantua Dolorzo, Chapter Vice President for Technical Affairs, on behalf of the Chapter President.

The technical sessions provided participants with essential foundations in Solar PV system design and requirements, followed by discussions on PV components, inverter specifications, batteries, system sizing, and other important engineering considerations.

Participants actively engaged in the discussions, sharing their experiences and raising practical questions throughout the sessions.

⚡ 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮 | 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪𝗟𝗘𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗜𝗚𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

The second day focused on further developing the participants’ understanding of Solar PV system design, calculations, equipment selection, electrical protection, system configuration, and installation requirements.

The discussions were complemented by practical examples and technical exchanges, allowing participants to connect the concepts presented with actual field applications.

🔧 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯 | 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

The final day brought the participants into the hands-on portion of the training, where they applied the principles and procedures discussed during the previous sessions.

Participants engaged in Solar PV installation, wiring, configuration, and testing, gaining practical experience in proper installation techniques, electrical safety, system protection, and PEC-compliant practices.

The activity concluded with the Closing Program and Distribution of Certificates, recognizing the successful completion of the three-day training by all participants.

Corsino , REE, RME, Technical Engineer/Owner of AJUC Solar & Electrical Engineering Services, for sharing their technical expertise, industry experience, and practical knowledge.

Our gratitude also goes to DLD Electrical Engineering Services, through Engr. Darwin Lambino de Asis, for generously providing the venue, equipment, materials, and valuable support that made this hands-on training possible.

We likewise thank our student facilitators from IIEE - University of Eastern Philippines-Main Student Chapter , for their assistance throughout the three-day activity and our Chapter officers and members who contributed to its successful implementation.

Most importantly, we thank all our participants for investing their time, effort, and commitment to continuous professional development.

This 3rd Batch is another important step in the Chapter’s continuing efforts to strengthen the local technical workforce for renewable energy. As Northern Samar moves toward greater utilization of renewable energy, developing competent electrical professionals and practitioners will be essential in supporting safe, reliable, efficient, and PEC-compliant Solar PV installations.

☀️ From knowledge to skills, and from skills to actual application, may this training inspire our participants to continue learning and contribute to the development of a more sustainable and energy-resilient Northern Samar.

Building on the success of the first batch, this second training continued the Chapter’s commitment to strengthening the technical capabilities of electrical professionals and practitioners in the growing field of renewable energy. The activity brought together participants from various sectors, including the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), private companies, and private electrical practitioners, creating a productive environment for knowledge-sharing and professional development.

This initiative also forms part of the IIEE Northern Samar Chapter’s continuing contribution to the development of Northern Samar’s Renewable Energy Roadmap, particularly in strengthening the local workforce and developing the technical capacity of electrical engineers, practitioners, and other stakeholders who will play an important role in the province’s transition toward a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

The three-day program combined technical discussions, practical demonstrations, and hands-on activities, covering essential areas of Solar PV systems—from fundamentals and component selection to system sizing, electrical protection, grounding, PEC-compliant design, and practical installation and wiring.

☀️ 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟭 | 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡

The first day opened with the Invocation, Philippine National Anthem, and IIEE Hymn, followed by the Welcome Remarks delivered by Engr. Frederick Pantua Dolorzo, Chapter Vice President for Technical Affairs. Selected participants also shared their expectations for the training.

The technical sessions began with Engr. Darwin Lambino de Asis, P*E, ACPE, Electrical Design Consultant of DLD Electrical Engineering Services, who discussed PV Design Requirements in General, providing participants with essential engineering considerations for safe, effective, and compliant Solar PV system design.

The afternoon session was led by Engr. Arwin Jay U. Corsino, REE, RME, Technical Engineer/Owner of AJUC Solar & Electrical Engineering Services and Chapter Board of Director. His discussion introduced participants to Solar PV Systems, including the evolution and efficiency of solar panels, inverter datasheets and specifications, and battery C-rate and autonomy.

Throughout the day, participants actively engaged in the discussions, raising technical questions and sharing their own experiences. The exchange of ideas provided a deeper and more practical understanding of the topics presented, with questions and clarifications satisfactorily addressed by the resource persons.

Day 2 continued with Engr. Arwin Jay U. Corsino, who further guided the participants through the technical aspects of Solar PV system design, components, calculations, protection, and system configuration.

The afternoon session also featured GAV Electrical Supply , one of the event sponsors, which presented its company profile and product lineup to the participants. The presentation was delivered by Ms. Timmy Rose Flores, Sales Representative, who shared valuable information on available Solar PV products and equipment relevant to practitioners.

The final day brought the participants from theory into practice as they engaged in hands-on Solar PV installation, wiring, configuration, and testing activities.

Participants were given the opportunity to apply the concepts and procedures discussed during the previous sessions, reinforcing the importance of proper installation practices, electrical safety, system protection, and compliance with applicable requirements.

The training concluded with a Closing Program and Distribution of Certificates, where participants received their Certificates of Completion in recognition of their successful participation in the three-day program.

A special appreciation goes to the IIEE UEP Student Chapter/IIEE - University of Eastern Philippines-Main Student Chapter , led by Mr. Euffy Anthony Bantilo, President, together with the student facilitators who provided valuable assistance throughout the three-day activity. Their support contributed significantly to the smooth and successful implementation of the training.

For three days, the training provided an intensive learning experience combining technical discussions, knowledge-sharing, and hands-on application focused on strengthening the capabilities of electrical professionals in the growing field of solar PV systems.

The training brought together participants from various sectors, including NORSAMELCO, DepEd Division of Northern Samar – SOCMOV, University of Eastern Philippines – PDO, LGU Catarman – Office of the Building Official, LGU Silvino Lubos – Office of the Building Official, DPWH, PNP personnel who are licensed electrical practitioners, and other private electrical practitioners. Their diverse backgrounds contributed to a productive exchange of perspectives and real-world experiences throughout the training.

From the fundamentals of solar PV systems, component selection, datasheet interpretation, electrical protection, grounding, system sizing, and design considerations to practical installation, wiring, testing, and commissioning—the participants actively engaged in the discussions and hands-on activities. On the final day, participants applied their learnings through actual practical exercises, reinforcing the importance of safe, reliable, and PEC-compliant solar PV system implementation.

A special appreciation goes to the IIEE UEP Student Chapter / IIEE - University of Eastern Philippines-Main Student Chapter , led by Mr. Euffy Anthon Bantilo, President, together with the student facilitators who provided valuable assistance throughout the three-day activity. In recognition of their contribution, each student facilitator was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation.

On Day 2, GAV Electrical Supply , one of the event sponsors, shared its company profile and product lineup with the participants. The presentation was delivered by Ms. Timmy Rose Flores, Sales Representative, who was likewise awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her valuable participation.
