16 Altar Servers from Our Lady of Candles Parish were formally invested this morning during the 9:00 AM Holy Mass, presided over by Msgr. Joy Jimera.

“Here I am, Lord; I come to do Your will.”

With grateful hearts, we, the Altar Servers, gathered for a meaningful day of formation, guided by our speaker, Cris Vergil Bajador, a former seminarian who completed his studies in Theology. Through his sharing, we were able to deepen our understanding of our sacred ministry and grow in our commitment to serve at the altar with reverence, discipline, and love.

In the afternoon, we were blessed to be joined by our parents for a recollection—a special moment of prayer and reflection that strengthened not only our faith but also the support and guidance we receive from our families.

As we continue preparing for our upcoming Investiture this May 3, may we carry in our hearts the call to serve with humility, devotion, and joy.

Please continue to pray for us, that we may remain faithful servants of the Lord. 🙏

We would like to inform you of the following schedule:

🗓️𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟑 (𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲): Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confession at 5:30 PM.

🗓️ 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟒 (𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲):

• Healing Mass at 6:00 AM
• St. Francis' Mass at 4:00 PM

In addition, please bring your pets with you, as we will have a 𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗦 after both the 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM Masses in St. Francis' Garden beside our Parish Rectory.

TUESDAY: Words of Wisdom and Prayer | September 3, 2024

Today we are called to imbibe in our life what we are teaching. Our integrity makes our teaching credible. Let us transform lives across time and space. We must walk the talk. Be the best example of the word.

Today we are invited to be like the Holy One of God who speaks with credibility and integrity to generate authoritative words. As followers of Jesus, we are called to grow in credibility and integrity so that whatever we proclaim will truly be listened to and may change lives. Our words will be enough because they are backed up by the life we lead.

Lord God please lead me to a life of credibility and integrity. May I walk the talk and lead by example in faith and action.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know difference. Peace and healing for the world. Amen.

THURSDAY: Words of Wisdom and Prayer | August 29, 2024.

A person whose decisions depend on the wishes of those around him is like a bamboo that sways whichever way the wind blows. A person whose values are anchored in selfishness holds values of Satan, not of God.

Today the Gospel reminds us of the "King Herod" in us and among us. Those who are more concerned of their self-interest, honor and status rather than upholding their values and be true to their conviction.

And many of us are like Herodias and her daughter who will do "evil" and influence others to do "evil" to attain their "evil" intentions. Because of this, many also became like John the Baptist - victims of injustices because of the selfishness of the first two.

Their actions and decisions are based on their personal gains, for the protection of their interest to attain their worldly dreams and ambition. Their actions and decisions are meant to please their audience. To please men and not God.

Today we are warned, fear God not men. Respect human life. Respect every person. For each is created in the image of God. Each is baptized in the Holy Spirit of God.

Lord God please grant me wisdom to make choices/decisions in accordance to your Word. May I please you in every action I make. Give me faith to protect and raise up the likes of John the Baptist, to deny the likes of Herod/Herodias in me. I believe in your love, mercy and compassion. Thank you for always extending to us your most powerful healing and helping hands. Send us your Angels for peace. All works for your great glory. Amen.

WEDNESDAY: Words of Wisdom and Prayer | August 28, 2024.

"Be not like the Pharisees who are full of hypocrisy."

Live and walk the faith! Actions that come from a purified heart!

Today, Jesus calls people to go beyond the externals. The righteousness should begin with the intention of the heart. We cannot simply be good without being good inside. As human persons, we are capable of pretending to do what is externally good without meaning it inside.

We must not forget the more important things like mercy, compassion, sensitivity and concern for others.

God wants us to be people with integrity - that the good we say or do externally is rightly coming from our heart.

Live life like Jesus, who has shown us the way, living the life according to the heart of the Father. Let us reconcile our actions with the intention of our heart and mind.

Lord God bless my thoughts, feelings & words, to reconcile with my actions. Grant me a faith that thinks well, feels well, and acts well. May I live with a purified mind and heart through all my actions for the love of you. Cleanse me Lord inside-out. Bless me to continue my work in your vineyard. Amen.

TUESDAY: Words of Wisdom and Prayer | August 27, 2024.

" Purify the inside first, then the outside, too, will be purified."

"So then, you Pharisees, you clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside yourselves you are full of greed and evil. Fools! He who made the outside, also made the inside."

Today as an essential task of the Christian pedagogic machine, we need to nurture, reassure, comfort, and guide our souls.

Using the Gospel language of the day, as teachers!/mentors of the new generation, we must strengthen our teachings that must focus on cleaning the inside first which we often neglect by design or default.

We need to recapture the objective of education which is "to make capable and cultivated human beings" (John Stuart Mill) who will have "a love of a neighbor, desire for clearing human confusion and for diminishing human misery" (Matthew Arnold) and Iove of God to top it all.

More than intellectual competence, we need to nurture and produce "good samaritans."
