ROTC SATURDAY INSTRUCTIONS: FAMILIARIZATION FIRING
"The ultimate aim of the ego is not to see something, but to be something." – Muhammad Iqbal
A memorable and meaningful part of our training was the Familiarization Firing using the M16 Rifle, held at the Silay City Firing Range, Negros Occidental.
Cadets and Cadet Officers from CHMSU Talisay Main Campus, Alijis Campus, and Fortune Towne Campus gathered to gain firsthand experience in proper rifle handling while developing discipline, focus, and responsibility. Under the guidance of the 605th Community Defense Center, led by COL Don Villanueva GCS (INF) PA, together with CHMSU ROTC instructors under the leadership of LTC Nathaniel R Villasor PA (RES), participants were given the opportunity to apply what they had learned during Basic Rifle Marksmanship Training using the M16 rifle.
More than learning how to fire a rifle, the activity taught valuable lessons in self-discipline, accountability, and responsibility. It reminded everyone that handling a firearm requires proper judgment, respect, and a strong sense of duty.
The activity concluded with inspiring messages from the Director of the 605th Community Defense Center, COL Don Villanueva GCS (INF) PA, CHMSU ROTC Commandant LTC Nathaniel R Villasor PA (RES), and CHMSU ROTC Assistant Commandant 2LT Carlos P Carlos PA (RES). Their words encouraged the cadets to continue developing themselves as disciplined, responsible, and service-oriented individuals.
Every lesson learned and every experience gained helps shape future leaders who are ready to serve with honor and integrity.
We train not only to develop skills, but also to strengthen our commitment to duty, honor, and service.
