PNG Ports Proud Naming Sponsor of the 2026 National Game Fishing Titles

PNG Ports is excited to share our K40,000 Naming Sponsorship of the 2026 National Game Fishing Titles, one of PNG’s leading sporting and tourism events.

This year’s Titles will be held from 30 March – 5 April 2026 in West New Britain Province, home to Kimbe Port, our third largest seaport and a key driver of regional economic activity.

Our CEO, Neil Papenfus, shared that this partnership reflects our commitment to supporting events that stimulate local business, promote tourism, and strengthen community connections across Papua New Guinea.

With major rehabilitation works underway at Kimbe Port, our sponsorship further reinforces PNG Ports’ ongoing investment in West New Britain and the communities we serve.

We thank the San Remo Game Fishing Club, led by President Ian O’Hanlon, for welcoming PNG Ports’ support in elevating the success and visibility of the 2026 Titles.

As PNG’s leading port services provider operating 15 declared ports nationwide, PNG Ports remains committed to sustainable development and strong community partnerships.

We look forward to an exciting and memorable 2026 National Game Fishing Titles! 🎣

🌱 Mangrove Conservation and Rehabilitation Program – Phase 4

Last week, PNG Ports — together with our valued program partners, ICTSI South Pacific and TotalEnergies EP PNG Ltd, successfully completed Phase 4 of our Mangrove Conservation and Rehabilitation Program. With support from the Baruni community, 256 new seedlings were planted under the theme “Restoration, Rehabilitation & Environmental Protection.”

Our mangrove planting journey so far:
• Phase 1 – Motukea: 627 seedlings
• Phase 2 – Motukea: 500 seedlings
• Phase 3 – Tatana: 105 seedlings
• Phase 4 – Baruni: 256 Rhizophora stylosa seedlings
🌱Total to date: 1,486 seedlings planted

Did you know? Mangroves can store up to four times more CO2 (per hectare) than most tropical forests. They also help protect coastlines from erosion and provide vital nursery habitats for fish and other marine life.

PNG Ports is thrilled to celebrate two of our exceptional women leaders — Safety Coordinator, Nellie Konga, and Learning & Development Officer, Nicole Quiocho — who were recently nominated for the 2026 Pacific International Hospital’s International Women’s Day Individual Award.

Their nominations highlight not only their professional excellence, but also their passion for empowering women across our organization and the wider community. Nellie’s unwavering dedication to workplace safety and Nicole’s commitment to developing future leaders continue to inspire those around them, setting powerful examples of what strong, purpose-driven leadership looks like.

In the spirit of this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain”, their recognition reflects how giving knowledge, support, and opportunity creates lasting impact and collective success.

We are immensely proud of their achievements and commend them for the meaningful impact they continue to make. Their recognition is a testament to the strength, talent, and leadership of the women at PNG Ports.

Congratulations, Nellie, and Nicole — your success is our success.

Big news for Papua New Guinea’s Maritime Security.
PNG Ports has officially partnered with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) to keep the nation’s ports and harbours safe and secure.
Signed on 24 February, this landmark Memorandum of Understanding sets the stage for coordinated patrols and surveillance, strong ISPS Code compliance, smarter intelligence sharing, rapid response to threats, and capacity building for the future.
Together, we are protecting port users, workers, and assets — while powering the growth of our great nation.

2026 is off to a strong start for our Board and Executive Team – checking in, ticking off progress, and keeping momentum high.
It’s been a big week with strong outcomes in Lae: alongside Board meetings, site visits to Lae Port’s Domestic Terminal and the Lae Industrial Park, we took the opportunity to connect with the Lae business community and our key stakeholders.
Great to see progress on the ground, have real conversations with our teams and partners, and ensure our plans stay aligned with operational realities as we drive a safer, more efficient, and more resilient maritime gateway.
