🥊 TIMARU MEMORIAL SHOW — IN HONOUR OF JOEL HILL 🥊

The focus of the day was always much bigger than the results — it was about remembering Joel and honouring his memory. ❤️

🥊 Tomo was first up against local boxer William, with this bout being contested in honour of Joel for the Joel Hill Memorial Belt.

Tomo had some really good moments through the first two rounds and finished the third with an absolute hell of a contest, letting his hands go and putting everything into the final round.

The decision didn’t go our way this time, with the slow start making the difference on the cards.

But Tomo boxed his heart out and gave everything he had between those ropes. We’re incredibly proud of the effort and the way he represented Joel.

Joel would be proud — and we certainly are. ❤️🥊

Then we had Greg finish off the day, taking on a talented athlete from Whakatu.

Greg put on a great display of boxing, using his range really well and staying composed after taking a hell of an overhand. He finished strongly to take the split decision. 👏

Well done Greg!

A massive thank you to everyone involved in putting on the Timaru show and helping us honour Joel through the sport he loved.

Today was about Joel. His memory, his life, and the people who continue to carry his name forward. ❤️

👏 Well done to everyone who stepped through the ropes and represented the club.

Ed went the distance with Gene from Australia, with Gene taking the decision.

Ioli fought hard in a close bout, going down by split decision to Rogene.

Tomo was matched with Tony Jones and came up short on the cards.

Cyrus also took on Jaeger in a match bout, gaining valuable experience despite the loss.

A massive thank you to Gene, his coach Leon, manager Karina and the whole Neon Boxing crew for making the trip all the way over to New Zealand to support the event. 🇦🇺🤝🇳🇿

We were truly privileged to share the ring with you all and are incredibly grateful for the support, sportsmanship and great match-ups. 🥊❤️

🥊 What a run from our boy Isaia! 👊

Competing for Canterbury at the Wellington v Canterbury tournament, Isaia stepped up in weight to take on a very good young fighter from Riverside.

It was a closely contested bout from start to finish, with both boys putting on a hell of a fight. Isaia went down by majority decision, but he left everything in the ring and gave it everything he had. 💪

We’ll definitely be seeing this boy again soon! 👊🥊

🥊 Top of the South v Canterbury

Big W for our man Cyrus with a great performance — well done brother! 💙💛 Onto the next one.

Tomo boxed well, defended and landed some good counter shots, but Tony controlled the lead-hand battle and found the better scoring combinations. Plenty to learn from and we’ll definitely see Tomo back in there soon. Proud of you, brother.

A big thank you to the Canterbury Boxing Association committee, volunteers and supporters for putting on another well-run and organised event. We appreciate all the work that goes into giving our athletes these opportunities.
