Kia ora koutou! We hope everyone is having a fabulous Ōtautahi Christchurch Pride so far!

We have been busy in the background working on our website, it's very basic at the moment but we are really excited to share the first 'Q***r Care Directory' for 2025. This is a work in progress, and we will be updating it annually. We are always looking to include more q***r friendly services, organisations and businesses so if you know of any that we should be aware of please get in touch. We encourage you to download the directory and share it far and wide. Ngā mihi aroha

Kia ora whānau, we’re still chipping away in the background on our Q***r Care website and directory. We would love to build on the q***r friendly contacts, businesses and services we already know of, so if you are one yourself or you know of one then please fill out our google form with your recommendations. We look forward to hearing from you! Ngā mihi 🖤🤎🩷🤍🩵❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

We want to create a directory of q***r friendly/safe services in Canterbury, whether that be a cafe, hairdresser, tradie, health service etc to have available for our communities to access. If you have a q***r friendly business yourself or you know of one please fill out this form so we can approach...

Kia ora! One of Q***r Care's main goals is to promote and support our diverse communities well-being. We understand that for every individual well-being will look different and unique. For some it could be talking to a counsellor or connecting with friends and whānau members, it could look like being back on your own whenua (land) or a place that is special for you, maybe it's just sweating it out on the treadmill or simply listening to your favourite spotify playlist. Knowing what works for you is so important, but not everyone knows what works for them yet, it's a journey and it's important to take the time to find out what well-being means for you. This is why we want to base the support we can offer on an amazing Māori well-being model called 'Te Whare Tapa Whā' which looks at several different principles of well-being; "Physical, Mental & Emotional, Spirtual, Family & Social and Whenua/land/foundation". You can read about each principle below. We would love to hear what well-being means to you, so feel free to share in the comments below so we can add it to our list of ways we hope to support you and our communities ❤️🧡💛💚💙🩷🤍🩵🤎🖤

This Ōtautahi Pride Week we held our first community hui and had some great kōrero which will help us in our future goals. We are currently doing some work in the background regarding our website, creating a list of services and supports which we look forward to sharing in the next month or so. We also want to shout out to some amazing people in our community who helped us raise $1455.00 during pride week. We would love to give a massive ngā mihi to the team at Christchurch Pride, Little Injectable Co, Piko Wholefoods Co-Operative, He Puna Taimoana, Harcourts Grenadier, Castro's Tapas & Bar, Lee Tuki, Angelah Rose and CeeJay Art thank you again for your fabulous support and tautoko ###

Wednesday 27th March Christchurch Pride Bingo.

We had the pleasure of meeting Cassie at Little Injectable Co, what a super cute company who is completely LGBTQIA+ friendly. They have donated a $600 voucher that we are choosing to silent auction at BINGO. Check out their web page to see what they offer and we'll see you all on Wednesday at Addington Raceway.

It's currently Ōtautahi Pride week, with many amazing events in the city! I took my teen and her friends to the opening parade last week, and we had a fab time!

If any of you local q***r are going to Pride Bingo at the racecourse next Wednesday evening, please grab a raffle ticket there to support my friend's new nonprofit, Q***r Care, which aims to connect the community with q***r friendly services and resources, to facilitate empowerment in the healthcare and wellbeing of the q***r community. The folks running it are amazing humans and I'm very excited to see how successful it will be. 💜

This print was inspired by the work of Keith Haring, who was a gay artist and activist in the 1970s and 1980s. Ultimately, he passed due to HIV but his work continues to inspire many and helps to advocate for q***r rights and wellbeing, and HIV awareness. I have donated this particular one towards the raffle, as it remains one of my most favourite prints that I have done.

Image description; on thick white paper, within a black frame are numerous blocky human and animal figurines in different poses with little graphics around them. The figurines have been hand coloured with alcohol markers.

Today we were blown away by a super generous donation.

Piko Wholefoods not only donated a gift basket and vouchers valued at $500 for our raffle at Christchurch Pride Bingo, next Wednesday 27 March, but also a same value donation, to help the community, in the way of funding.

Piko Wholefoods is a workers co-operative and charitable trust. They have a strong ethos of keeping our environmental footprint as low as possible. and a strong sense of social responsibility. Piko know the practical benefits and affordability of nutrient dense, wholefood eating for physical and mental health.

This store has gorgeous vegetarian and vegan products, super helpful staff as well as being super LGBTQIA+ friendly!!
