Words were the focus today as Year 3β4 students from Heddon Bush School, St Thomas Aquinas School, Wallacetown School, Drummond Primary School & Dipton School came together for an exciting Southern REAP Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) cluster session.
Through our programme, we create opportunities for learners to connect with peers who share similar interests and strengths. Working alongside schools across Central, Western, and Eastern Southland, we help challenge young minds through enriching experiences that inspire creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and discovery.
Today's theme was 'Verbivores' β people who love to devour words!
Students explored context clues, prefixes, suffixes, and Greek and Latin roots to uncover the meanings of unfamiliar words. They also explored multiple-meaning words and discovered how expanding their vocabulary can strengthen both their communication and confidence.
Well done to our young learners and a big thank you to our tutor Robyn Irwin for sharing your knowledge!
