We're shooting on Monday the 5th instead of Tuesday the 6th of October as the Malvern Target Shooting Association AGM is on Tuesday evening.

Last night we wrapped up the season with our annual fun shoot. A big thanks to Graeme Oakley, who dusted off some pre-1960's inward gauging targets, which were an eye-opener for those of us who've never shot them before (and weren't even born for decades after they were discontinued)!

I (Alex Robinson) even managed a 100.7 on the old target, not bad for having sat the season out this year!

For everyone who wants to keep up their practice over the spring and summer months, we'll be meeting monthly, on the first Tuesday of each month, starting 6th of October. These nights are open to junior and senior members, and casual shooters.

If you've never shot before or you've been out of the sport for a while we have all the gear available: ri**es, am******on, shooting jackets, rests and benches. Casual Shoots are just $10 for 1 card or $15 for 2. No fi****ms license is required if you're using club gear, under supervision and our senior members and range officers will be happy to guide you through everything you need to know to have a go.

And finally, for all members please don't forget that prize giving is on the 11th of October at the West Melton Tavern. Drinks start at 6.30pm, with dinner served at 7.30pm. Please let Barry Hill know if you're coming ASAP so he can confirm numbers.

Hi everyone, we're cancelling tonight's juniors shooting due to weather conditions.

Hi Everyone,

Last season we had such an amazing, positive response to running our juniors and new shooters night on Mondays that we've decided to bring it back for 2026.

We'll be starting on Monday the 20th of April at 7PM.

So parents, if you've got a teenager who is looking to try a new sport, or adults, if you've never tried target shooting and don't know where to start our doors are open to you!

During 2025 we had junior shooters develop from never having used a r***e before to being competitive with our senior members.

We supply everything you need, ri**es, targets, am******on and shooting jackets. And most importantly coaching from our senior members to learn to shoot safely and accurately. No prior shooting experience is necessary, nor is a fi****ms licence as our members and range officers fully supervise shooters at all times.

We'll be meeting weekly over winter and this season there'll be opportunities for our juniors to compete against shooters our other Malvern Target Shooting Association clubs in Darfield and Hororata.

So come on down on Monday night, have some fun, try something new, and for the mums and dads, we have a nice warm fireplace and plenty of couches and chairs!

Pricing for new shooters is $10 for one target or $15 for two.
