West Melton Miniature Rifle Club We're a 25 yard indoor smallbore range, we meet every Tuesday from April to August. New Members and casual shooters of all levels are welcome.

We have a selection of club rifles, jackets and gear available to use.

Hi Everyone,

Last season we had such an amazing, positive response to running our juniors and new shooters night on Mondays that we've decided to bring it back for 2026.

We'll be starting on Monday the 20th of April at 7PM.

So parents, if you've got a teenager who is looking to try a new sport, or adults, if you've never tried target shooting and don't know where to start our doors are open to you!

During 2025 we had junior shooters develop from never having used a rifle before to being competitive with our senior members.

We supply everything you need, rifles, targets, ammunition and shooting jackets. And most importantly coaching from our senior members to learn to shoot safely and accurately. No prior shooting experience is necessary, nor is a fi****ms licence as our members and range officers fully supervise shooters at all times.

We'll be meeting weekly over winter and this season there'll be opportunities for our juniors to compete against shooters our other Malvern Target Shooting Association clubs in Darfield and Hororata.

So come on down on Monday night, have some fun, try something new, and for the mums and dads, we have a nice warm fireplace and plenty of couches and chairs!

Pricing for new shooters is $10 for one target or $15 for two.

Hi Everyone, just a heads up that our first pre-season shoot of the year is tomorrow night, Tuesday the 10th of February at 7pm.

We'll also be having a brief meeting to organise a couple of working bees in February to complete some maintenance of the clubrooms and range.

Even though the season is over, we'll be meeting fortnightly until around mid-December (next meeting 21st Oct) so now's a great time to get in some practice and experiment with your setup to be ready to hit the ground running in 2026!

Next season the competition will be even stronger with a number of our juniors progressing from shooting off the rest to using the sling, and with the introduction of separate A and B grades for bench rest.

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that summertime shooting starts tomorrow (Tuesday) evening from 7pm.

We'll be meeting fortnightly until Christmas, so it's a great opportunity to get in some practice for next season and chase those 100's (or 100.10's for all our bench shooters 😁)

The competition season may be over but it was still great to see such a big turnout this Tuesday!

West Melton has had a great season with many new and junior shooters joining us and it's been fantastic to see their progress, especially with so many juniors already progressing to shooting off the sling.

Our bench rest division has also gone from strength to strength with lots of big scores and personal bests (🤞we'll see a 100.10 on the bench this year!). We've also had lots of prone shooters match or beat their personal bests.

Club wise, we've made some investments in upgrading our club shooting jackets and now we have a good range of new jackets in a variety of sizes.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next Tuesday at 7PM!

Hi Everyone

Next Monday will be the last regular Monday nights shoot for the year. You are all welcome to come along to the regular Tuesday nights and join other members of the club in the end of year novelty shoots.

Also for those interested the Malvern Target Shooting Association will be running their annual Kids Shoot.
hosted by the Hororata Target Shooting Club on the Friday 29th August starting at 7.00pm

The Kids shoot catered for all ages and grades and you chose whether you want to shoot with a rest or shoot in the sling.
Lots of prizes and certificates, just bring something for supper, you will shoot on the same rifles as you have been using during the season. West Melton club will supply your ammo.
