154th AGM & Annual Report 2025/26

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our 154th Annual General Meeting on 1 September.

Our Chair, Phil Holden, presented the Trust’s 2025/26 Annual Report, reflecting on the year’s activities and achievements.

We were also fortunate to hear from Anna Kelsall, Owen Wos and John Argue, who shared their experiences and some of the ways Trust support is making a difference in our community.

Check out this wonderful project at Greytown Kindergarten – tamariki learning, creating and giving back to their community. Thanks Martin toymaker.co.nz for sharing your skills and creating something so meaningful with the tamariki. ❤️

We have had some new additions to the front of the kindergarten. For the past term the tamariki have been working with Martin the toy maker to create our Whare pukapuka and Pātaka kai. This project was about so much more than building a pantry—it gave our tamariki a hands-on way to learn about empathy, community support, and the joy of giving. They are so excited to help care for our neighbors and see the impact of sharing what we have.

We invite you to drop by with a non-perishable donation or you're welcome to help yourself to items to help keep the momentum going and show the tamariki their hard work is making a real difference! 💛

Funding approved for local community and sporting initiatives!

We are delighted to announce the successful recipients of our latest Community and Sport & Active Recreation Funding rounds.

💚 Community Funding ($29,611) was awarded to:

• Alzheimer's Wairarapa
• Hōkai Tahi Charitable Trust
• St Luke's Music and Movement
• Greytown Toy Library
• Wairarapa Youth Orchestra
• Digital Seniors
• Pāpāwai–Mangarara Stream Catchment Group
• Greytown Trails Trust
• The Social Crust (Greytown Foodbank)
• Hato Hone St John Wairarapa Health Shuttle

🏅Sport & Active Recreation Funding ($4,936) was awarded to:

• Nilah Savage – representing New Zealand at the 2026 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Canada.
• Owen Wos – competing at the National Secondary Schools Swimming Championships.
• Greytown Cheerful Chair Exercise Group – supporting its popular weekly strength and balance classes for older residents.

🌿 In addition to these funding rounds, Trustees also approved $6,500 from the Trust's Projects of Substance Fund to support the Pāpāwai–Mangarara Stream Catchment Group's ongoing environmental restoration work.

We would like to gratefully acknowledge the generous donation received from the Greytown Community Gym following its recent disestablishment. This generous contribution has strengthened the Trust's Sport & Active Recreation Fund and is already helping support both community participation and aspiring athletes.

📅 A second Sport & Active Recreation Funding round will open in mid-October. Keep an eye on our website and page for application details.

After an incredible response on opening night, the Foodbank collection returns for our Closing Night this Saturday 25 July, proudly supported by Greytown Lands Trust.

Bring along a can from home of human or pet food or pop into FreshChoice Greytown during your time in Greytown and pop it onto the trailer behind Fergie the adorable little tractor, parked beside the Community Christmas Tree on Main Street from 3pm - 8pm.

Every donation, big or small, will help support local people and pets who need a hand this winter.

🎄🥫 Bring a Can for the Foodbank this Saturday! 🥫🎄

Greytown Lands Trust is proud to be supporting the opening night of the NZ Festival of Christmas this Saturday and we'd love your help to support our local Foodbank at the same time.

When you come along to enjoy the festivities, please bring a can of food and place it on the back of Fergie the tractor, which will be parked from 3pm to 8pm beside the Community Christmas Tree on Main Street Greytown.

Every donation, big or small, will help support local families and individuals who may need a helping hand this winter.
Together, let's celebrate the spirit of giving by supporting our community and filling Fergie to the brim!
