Lions Club of Carterton, NZ We are Carterton Lions. As Lions, we respond to our community’s needs in many different ways.

What we do
•We enjoy ourselves
•We carry out ‘hands-on’ projects in our community and with other Lions clubs.
•We raise funds for, and give physical assistance to, charitable projects.
•We organise community events to improve our sense of community.
•We assist the blind, the elderly and our youth.
•We assist in times of emergency.
•We visit other clubs, have social outings. How we volunteer
•We share an evening meal and meeting on alternate Wednesdays twice a month, while hearing interesting guest speakers.
•We become involved on a committee to help organize the activities of the Club.
•We work on projects as our home and work commitments allow. When we meet
•We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month for a dinner meeting.
•At the Club Carterton, Broadway Ave, Carterton
•Commencing 6 pm for friendship, a meal at 6.30 followed by a guest speaker, then some general business, closing soon after 8-8.30 pm
•A few times each year we have a social evening at the movies, a café, attending a show along with various trips away. What it costs
•Membership of most organisations has a cost.
•Currently our annual dues are about the equivalent of a cup of coffee a week.
•And there is an optional reasonably priced meal at each Club meeting attended.
•Lions are proud of the fact that all funds raised in the community are returned to the community. What we get in return
•The close friendship of club members and their families.
•The ability to assist those less fortunate than yourself.
•The satisfaction of being able to achieve service we could not achieve on our own.
•Fun and enjoyment from meeting and working alongside like-minded people.
•A range of low cost self development opportunities.
•As with any organisation, the friendships, satisfaction and self development do depend on the amount we are prepared to be involved.

Sunday 13th September 2026
The Daffodil Festival Flyer.

Carterton’s Daffodil Festival in the early Spring creates a great day out for the whole family! Thanks to our longstanding relationship with the Carterton Railway Museum, we've been able to give Wairarapa locals the opportunity to travel onboard this special annual train, with the support of the Carterton District Council, and the Wairarapa Times-Age.

Tickets are available for a short heritage train excursion between Carterton and Masterton and return. Travel on Steam Inc's heritage train through the Wairarapa, an affordable and relaxing outing for the whole family!

This year we have some exciting options for those who travel to also take part in the Daffodil Festival at Carterton.

Choose between:
Option 1 - Travel between Carterton & Masterton in both directions on our heritage train. Approx. 1hr 30min layover at Masterton Station
Book Option 1 Here!

Option 2 - Travel by train from Carterton to Masterton, and then immediately jump on a Shuttle Bus back to Carterton to explore the Daffodil Festival. Train departs Carterton at 10:30 and bus departs Masterton at 11:15am approx
Book Option 2 Here!

Option 3 - Travel by train from Masterton to Carterton, explore the Carterton Daffodil Festival, and then travel by bus back to Masterton. Train departs Masterton at 1pm and bus departs Carterton Train Station at 3:15pm approx.
Book Option 3 Here!

Please be at your boarding station minimum 10 minutes prior ready to roll, with your tickets, carriage number and seating allocations at the ready.

Fares
General Admission - $28.50
Family (2A 2C) - $100
Infant - Free

Please note that if booking online, our booking system does add on a small percentage to the above fares. Steam Incorporated does not see this revenue.

Prior booking is essential, this is an annual sell out event!

LIONS HAND OVER THE FENSHAM SHELTER!
We recently handed over the shelter we built over 3 working bees (73 hours) to the Forest & Bird and Fensham Society with a fantastic gathering and morning tea!
The rain and cold couldn't dampen our spirits!
Once again the process of getting a group of guys together with a common goal to serve our community was the best experience!
We just love it! YOU MIGHT TO!!! Message us for details

LIONS WINTER FUND RAISING! THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
We braved the weather alongside many others last weekend at Greytown School for their Country Fair and managed to raise a tidy wee sum for them! What a pleasure it was to work alongside them.
Thanks for having us ❤️
