A heartfelt thank you to the WasteMINZ Conference community for supporting Mary Potter Hospice. 💙

This year, our Hospice Shop team was invited to host a complimentary trade stall at the conference, held at TSB Bank Arena The opportunity was created as part of WasteMINZ’s commitment to giving back to the local community.

Across three days, the stall raised an incredible $1,607 to help support free specialist palliative care for people and whānau across Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti.

A special thank you to Libby, Assistant Manager at our Mary Potter Hospice Shop Thorndon, and Karen, who managed the stall and helped make this possible.

We’re so grateful for the generosity of everyone who stopped by, browsed, bought something special, and supported hospice care in our community.

Every purchase helps us continue to be there for local patients and families when they need us most. 💙

What an extraordinary show of support for Mary Potter Hospice 💙

It has been incredibly moving to see so many people stop to support hospice care over the past week.

Across Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti, people stopped on the street to give because hospice care had once touched someone they loved. Others stopped to give because they remember the kindness of a Hospice nurse, or because they believe nobody should face the end of life alone.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, our Hospice Appeal has already raised an incredible $118,588 for local patients and whānau.

A heartfelt thank you to each and every volunteer who supported the Hospice Appeal. 1,060 volunteers stood on streets across our community collecting donations - a remarkable reflection of how deeply people value hospice care.

With $118,588 already raised so far, we are SO close to our goal of reaching $120,000. Can you help us get there?

If you missed our collectors on the streets but want to help ensure hospice care continues to be there for families when it’s needed most, you can still support our Hospice Appeal by donating online today.

Thank you for being part of the community that helps make hospice care possible.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Our Newlands Hospice Shop is temporarily closed until further notice due to health and safety concerns following ongoing leaks and flooding.

Our team is working hard behind the scenes to get things sorted, and we’ll share updates as soon as we can.

In the meantime, you can still support the Newlands shop. The team will be sharing photos of items available to purchase on their page and can help organise payment and pick-up. https://www.facebook.com/Marypotterhospiceshopnewlands/

Please keep an eye on the Newlands Hospice Shop page for updates, and message the team if you see something you like.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.

We miss seeing your friendly faces in store and look forward to welcoming you back when it’s safe to do so. 💛

To everyone who supported Mary Potter Hospice Street Appeal — thank you. 💛 So grateful for each and every one of our incredible volunteers.

Whether you donated, volunteered, smiled, waved, stopped for a chat, shared our posts, or stood alongside our collectors, we are so grateful. 💛

1News covered what many of us in the hospice sector are navigating right now. Across New Zealand, hospices are facing a real funding shortfall — and our CE Tony Paine speaks about the growing pressure hospices across Aotearoa are facing, as rising costs and funding shortfalls make it harder to keep providing care at the level our communities need. For Mary Potter Hospice, less than half of our funding comes from the Government, and the rest must be raised through the generosity of our community.

Tony put it simply: people are generous, even when times are tough. And that generosity -yours, is what keeps us here for the families who need us most.💛

That is why your support means so much. Every donation helps us continue providing free hospice care, comfort and support for people and whānau across Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti.

Please take a moment to read and share the story and if you can, consider making a donation.
