Hononga Milon aims to invigorate the spirit of kotahitanga in an increasingly diverse New Zealand Tickets will be available shortly.

After a hard time through COVID staying couped up within our immediate families, it is now time to get back to our beautiful vibrant ‘happy’ Wellington community. New Zealand is becoming an increasing multi-cultural society welcoming friends from across the globe. And Wellington, no doubt, is a great representation of this enormous ethnicity. Let us bring back the face-to-face human interactions i

n this increasing virtual world by celebrating the diversity. A group of friends have come together who enjoy cooking as a hobby and wish to use food as a medium to bring people together in a casual and fun filled evening. Hononga Milon, a charitable trust, will host a series of fund raising sit down dinners. The first dinner, scheduled on 24 September at St Teresa’s Parish Hall in Karori, will focus on an Asian fusion dinner. All profits will be donated to Ronald McDonald House.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the charity dinner on 7 September! We felt the warmth and kindness all around us amidst the cold wind outside. Your support and generosity is indeed inspiring!

This year, we had an eight-course dinner of comfort food from all over the world. We thank our Masterchef-like home cooks for the well-thought of menu and the delicious dishes. True to the theme, the dishes were soothing to the soul -- exactly what comfort food does!

Proceeds will be donated to Mary Potter Hospice, whose outstanding care team has comforted thousands of families in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti. We are glad to work with such an integral member of our community.

We hope these photos remind you of how wonderful our community is, and we certainly look forward to seeing you again in our future events!

PM to book your tickets for our third year running Hononga Milon charity dinner on 7 September 2024 at the Karori Baptist Church, Wellington. This is an event to celebrate the multi cultural cuisine of Aoteoroa New Zealand presented by a few amateur cooks who enjoy it as a passion.

The theme this year is 'comfort food'.

In December 2023, Hononga Milon extended our support to Ekta in the distribution of a wholesome Christmas dinner to about a 100 disadvantaged Wellingtonians in Courtenay Place.

Hononga Milon will continue its support to bring communities together as we move forward into 2024. We look forward to our next community programme where we hope we can continue to get support from our patrons.

Hononga Milon hosted the second successful fundraising charity dinner on the 9th of September 2023 at the Karori Baptist Church, Wellington. Hononga Milon thanks the patrons who supported the cause and made this evening a great success. True to the spirit of Hononga Milon, it was an evening where people from multiple ethnicities and walks of life met and talked to help revive and strengthen the value of human interaction.

Proceeds from the charity dinner this year has been donated to Wellington Free Ambulance. Thanks to Claire Carruthers from Wellington Free Ambulance for spreading awareness about the work that they do for the community, which is entirely dependent on donations and support from like-minded people like us.

Our theme this year was rice. We presented a multi-cuisine eight course sit down dinner, all cooked by our passionate amateur chefs at home.

Last but not the least, Hononga Milon thanks our great team of volunteers who helped to stitch the evening together perfectly and made it a fantastic fun event.

We hope to see you again next year to help spread the word for equally important causes, where we can contribute in our own small way in the next edition of Hononga Milon.
