EXTRA TIME TOURNAMENT 2026 - THATS A WRAP! 💙
The last of the borrowed goals have now been returned, so we can only now say that’s officially a wrap! And wow... what… a… weekend! This year’s Extra Time Tournament was our biggest EVER with more than 900 kids taking part! 🤯
Two days of football, plenty of smiles, some brilliant sporting moments and good sports, and a whole lot of fun - exactly how we like it. A tournament this size simply doesn’t happen without a brilliant team behind it, so we need to say some very important THANK YOUS (and read on for a wee competition to boot):
🧠 Dave Richardson - our amazing Tournament Director and the brains behind the mammoth task of creating the draws for just under 100x teams!
😁 Alessyn Hecht & Sandy Cumpstone - for pulling together the tournament logistics, permits, equipment, supplies, comms, managers packs and all the bits in between!
💪 Anthony Mumby - A special shout out for going above and beyond with our goal and equipment logistics to ensure that we didn’t have to reduce the sizes of our grades!
🍴 Caylyn Frankson and Teneti Ririnui - For organising an amazing BBQ, which doubled as an U19 Fundraiser for the club!
🎁 Inter Football NZ, Fskills & Capital Football - for helping to provide over 100x Good Sport prizes!
⚽ Bobby Foundation - for supplying brand new playing kit, which some of our Junior teams got to play in at the tournament!
🚛 Ene, Josiah and Aaron and the Coolmoves team - for helping us relocate goals from Miramar Park when we were absolutely stuck on what to do!
⚽ Nick and the team at Wellington City Council - for helping us relocate additional goals from Newtown Park and get everything in place for a VERY busy weekend!
🥰 Air Rescue and Community Services - for helping cover some of our Tournament Costs.
🏅 Connor from Kiwi Trophies, and Stefan and the team at Ribbons Plus - for supplying a whopping 1200 awards for our participants!
🏠 Island Bay United Association Football Club, Miramar Rangers AFC and Wellington Olympic AFC - for lending us your goals and Island Bay United for opening up your clubrooms!
☕ Jenna and the Rise & Grind team - for keeping everyone going with their delicious coffees and goodies!
💙🧡 And finally, our incredible Tournament Good Sorts - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! From logistics, to setting up fields, to chasing results, to hootering, to BBQing, helping teams, handing out awards and packing everything down, and everything in between, we literally couldn't run Extra Time without you.
