In a time of uncertainty, it's more important than ever to look for opportunities and where they don't exist, to create them ourselves.

A big mihi to our General Manager of the Ngāti Pāhauwera Commercial Group, Aidan Collins, for highlighting the work and employment opportunities being developed through our commercial ventures. These opportunities are about more than jobs; they're about building pathways for our people, strengthening whānau resilience, and investing in the future of our iwi.

Importantly, these opportunities aren't limited to fruit picking or seasonal work. They exist right across the value chain, from orchard development and management, logistics and transport, administration, compliance, and operations, through to leadership, governance, and business development. By participating at every stage, we create sustainable careers, build skills, and generate greater value that stays within our communities.

By growing our own enterprises and backing our own people, we're creating meaningful opportunities that keep our whānau connected, thriving, and prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.

Together, we're building a stronger future for Ngāti Pāhauwera, taking one opportunity at a time.

A special acknowledgement to Tom Keefe, Chair of the Ngāti Pāhauwera Commercial Development Trust, whose leadership, vision, and commitment continue to drive the success of our collective aspirations.

Tom provides an insightful and inspiring overview of the incredible progress being made at Pakuratahi Orchard. From strategic planning and sustainable growth through to creating meaningful employment and development opportunities for our people, the orchard stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when strong governance is combined with a long-term vision for our whānau and whenua.

Pakuratahi Orchard is more than just a successful horticultural enterprise. It represents the aspirations of generations, the strength of our people, and the opportunities we are creating for our future mokopuna. The work being done today is helping to build a legacy that will benefit our whānau for years to come.

Ngā mihi to Tom and the entire team behind Pakuratahi Orchard. Your dedication, innovation, and hard work continue to showcase the strength of Ngāti Pāhauwera and the exciting future that lies ahead.

We are proud to see our people leading the way in horticulture, creating pathways for future generations, and demonstrating the value of investing in our whenua and our communities.

Today our whānau are heading to the Far North to attend the Ahuwhenua Awards, where Ngāti Pāhauwera Development Trust and our very own Te Rina Joe have been nominated for awards.

We wish them all the very best and congratulate them on this incredible achievement. Their success reflects not only the hard mahi they put in every day, but also their outstanding leadership, vision, and commitment to creating opportunities for future generations of our mokopuna.

As highlighted by Horticulture New Zealand, strong leadership, innovation, and sustainable growth are essential for the future of our primary industries. Ngāti Pāhauwera Development Trust and Te Rina embody these values, helping to strengthen our communities while building a legacy for those who follow.

We are incredibly proud of you all and look forward to celebrating your success. Safe travels and all the very best for the awards! 👏🏽🌿🏆

Ngāti Pāhauwera Development Trust and Commercial Group were privileged to welcome Dr Anna Breman, the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, and her team to Pakuratahi Orchard.

It was a great opportunity to showcase the mahi happening here at home and for Dr Breman to meet some of our whānau and leadership who are helping grow opportunities for current and future generations of Ngāti Pāhauwera.

These kinds of visits are important as we continue to build relationships, share our aspirations, and ensure our people, our kaupapa, and our potential are visible at a national level.

A special day for our whānau and a positive step towards strengthening connections and creating opportunities for the future. We look forward to continuing the relationship and the conversations ahead.
