MĀTANGIRAU RESERVES BOARD VACANCY

Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa Trust is preparing for the upcoming appointment of three trustees to represent the Trust on the Mātangirau Reserves Board (MRB).
MRB Trustees are responsible for providing governance, strategic guidance, and oversight of the Mātangirau reserves. Trustees ensure that decision-making reflects the values, vision, and aspirations of mana whenua and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities for this position include:
Attend and actively participate in MRB meetings and hui
Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and governance decisions
Uphold the principles of partnership between Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa Trust and Wairoa District Council
Ensure the protection, enhancement, and sustainable management of the
Mātangirau reserves
Represent Kāhui perspectives, ensuring mana whenua values are central to
governance
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical conduct at all times
Skills and attributes sought are:
Strong understanding of mana whenua interests and kaupapa related to the Mātangirau reserves
Governance experience (preferred but not essential)
Ability to read and interpret documents, policies, and reports
Effective communication and relationship-building skills
Commitment to tikanga, kaitiakitanga, and collective decision-making
Ability to dedicate time for preparation, meetings, and follow-up actions
