Te Maramataka – Week Ahead

As we move through the week, take time to notice the changing energy around us and plan our mahi accordingly.

There will be days that support focus, productivity and getting practical work completed, alongside quieter days that are better suited for rest, reflection, planning and taking care of ourselves. Let the energy of each day guide the pace of your mahi—there is value in both moving forward and slowing down.

Te Maramataka reminds us that we are connected to the rhythms of te taiao, helping us make space for our hauora, whānau, mahi and the things that matter.

A huge mihi to Papa Toa for sharing this week’s maramataka. Follow their page here: Papa Toa

A great read for our whānau in the latest Tīhei Kahungunu pānui from Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated.

This edition shares a wide range of kaupapa happening across Kahungunu — celebrating 30 years of strength, service and mana motuhake, while also looking ahead to Kahungunu 2050, with whānau, hapū and marae at the heart of that journey.

There are some great stories throughout, including rangatahi finding their voice and learning about politics, mahi to strengthen responses to family violence, the opening of Māhinaora in Takapau, and the incredible Te Hokinga journey reconnecting our people with ancestral voyaging pathways across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa.

And especially close to home, Wairoa rangatahi Manaia Hall is featured as the inaugural recipient of the Pan Pac Engineering Scholarship, as she works towards becoming a qualified electrician — paving the way for other rangatahi and wāhine considering careers in the trades.

There is plenty happening across our wider Kahungunu rohe, and plenty to celebrate.

Take some time to have a pānui and see what our people are doing across Ngāti Kahungunu.

Tīhei Kahungunu!

Welcoming Kiriwera Cotter to Wairoa Taiwhenua

Kia ora e te whānau,

We are also pleased to welcome Kiriwera Cotter as the new representative for Takiwā 5, following the recent by-election to fill the vacant Trustee position.

Kiri attended her first Trustee hui on Monday, 14 September, and we look forward to the whakaaro, experience and commitment she will bring to the Taiwhenua table.

Nau mai, haere mai Kiri — we know you will be a valuable addition to the Board as we continue to serve our marae, hapū and whānau across Te Wairoa.
