What a year it’s been! We’ve had 119 adoptions from October to October, and we’re currently down to just two cats looking for a home!

We’re taking that as a pretty good sign that it’s time for us to take a little breather too.

For the rest of October, we’ll still be working behind the scenes and answering calls & messages, but we’ll be less active and available than usual while everyone gets some much needed time to recharge.

Kitten season is already starting, so we know the quiet won’t last long. We’re going to make the most of it while we can, and use this time to get ourselves and the shelter ready for the months ahead.

If you’d like to help us prepare, donations are always appreciated. Every bit helps us get ready for the extra food, vet care, & everything else that comes with kitten season.

French Fry is still waiting for his family, and we really don’t know how he hasn’t been snapped up yet!

This boy ticks all the boxes. Dog friendly, kid friendly, people friendly, happy to hang out with you, happy to play and ALWAYS purring.

French Fry is just the happiest little guy. He loves being around people and will follow you around like your little shadow. He’s always keen for a good play session too!

And look at those ears!

He really is such a lovely all-rounder, and whoever chooses French Fry is going to be one lucky family.

🌟 Update : Wilma has now been adopted!

Wilma is our little late bloomer. She’s been with us since February and, while all her siblings have found homes, she’s still here waiting for hers.

Wilma is still quite shy and will need plenty of time and space to settle into a new home and build her confidence. She may never turn into a full-on lap cat, so we want to be upfront about that. She needs someone who is happy to let her settle in at her own pace rather than expecting her to be comfortable straight away.

She really is such a lovely girl with the tiniest, cutest meow. She absolutely loves to play, and will be an excellent mouser, and she really does love a good pat once she trusts you!

She doesn’t mind other cats and may do well with a friendly cat who could help her come out of her shell a little more.

Wilma has come a long way since she arrived, even in a shelter environment which isn’t the easiest place for a shy cat to build confidence. We’d love to see what she can become with the right home and someone willing to give her the time she needs.

Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Swan is still looking for her home!

Lizzy is such a charming little kitten. She’s friendly, cuddly and just very easy-going. She takes things on the chin and is happy to go along with whatever is happening around her.

She’s also fine with kids and would make a lovely addition to a family. She’s not all cuddles though, Lizzy has plenty of energy and she is FAST! She loves to run, chase and play, and would have a great time in a home where she can put that speed to good use.

She really is just a pleasant little kitten to have around. Friendly, playful, happy to have a cuddle and not easily bothered. She’s got a lovely nature and we’d love to see her settled into a home of her own.

Only 50 raffle tickets left!

A huge thank you to New World Tūrangi for letting us hang out for the day! We had a great time chatting with people and selling raffle tickets outside the store.

There’s a tub packed with goodies up for grabs, and the draw is happening on Monday!

Goose is a simply amazing kitten. She’s loveable, cuddly and has a lot going on. She’s active and curious, and she’s a very keen little hunter, so there’s always something for her to investigate or get up to.

When she’s ready to slow down, she’s a fantastic couch companion. She loves a cuddle (especially around your neck!)

Goose can be a bit chatty too, especially when she wants something. She might take a minute to warm up when she first meets you, but once she does, she’s not shy at all and is very happy to come over for attention.

She would do well in a home with kids over 10 who will give her a bit of space when she first arrives. She’s also fine with dogs. She probably won’t want to be their best friend, but she’s not scared of them and certainly isn’t afraid to tell them who's the boss!

Goose is just a really lovely little cat. She has plenty of energy and curiosity, but she also knows how to settle down and enjoy a good evening on the couch.

Garlic Bread is a very sweet, loveable girl with an independent streak. She’s playful, happy to do her own thing and doesn’t need to be attached to you every minute of the day.

She can be a little slow to warm up, but once she decides she likes you, wow! That friendly little girl really comes out. She’ll happily come over for attention and show you just how lovely she is.

Garlic Bread would suit a home with older children, or children who understand that she’ll need a bit of space when she first arrives. She does fine with dogs, she’s certainly not afraid to let them know who is boss.

If you’re looking for a playful, independent girl Garlic Bread could be it!

French Fry is a lovely, chatty little guy with a goofy personality and a very happy outlook on life.

He likes to meep at you when he wants something! He’s a very sweet boy and is always happy to see you.

French Fry especially loves a cuddle especially in the morning or settling in beside you on the couch. He’s equally happy doing his own thing though, and is a very content little guy who doesn’t need much convincing that life is pretty good.

He gets along well with everyone and has done fine around dogs, so he’s pretty easy-going about who he shares his world with.

If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate cat with a goofy side, a cute little meep and a very relaxed attitude to life, French Fry could be your guy!
