🌿 Rangatahi Papakāinga Wānanga 🌿

Te Ohu Rangatahi is hosting a Papakāinga Wānanga to make sure rangatahi voices are heard in the future of papakāinga development for our people. This is about creating space for your ideas, hopes, needs and aspirations – so our future housing reflects who we are and how we want to live.

The wānanga will include:
• Papakāinga 101 – why it matters for our hapū and future generations
• A walk over the whenua and kōrero about its history
• Creative wānanga to design and imagine your ideal papakāinga
• Feedback and next steps

This kaupapa is about rangatahi shaping the future, not just being informed about it. You don’t need to know anything about papakāinga beforehand – just come with your whakaaro, pātai, and dreams for your whānau and future.

📌 The whenua proposed for papakāinga development is at 214 Te Rangitautahanga Road, however the wānanga itself will be held at our Trust office.

As we step into the new year, we want to take a moment to acknowledge our Ngāti Tūrangitukua Charitable Trust Interns (Te Ohu Rangatahi) who have officially reached the halfway point of their internship tenure.

They continue to show up with curiosity and a genuine desire to contribute back to whānau me te hapori. Here’s to a year of learning, collaboration, and building pathways forward together. 🌱

What a privilege it was to mobilise alongside all of our hapū of Ngāti Tūwharetoa — welcoming those who travelled great distances, embracing those from close to home, and ensuring that everyone felt the warmth, care, and manaakitanga of our hapū and iwi.

Our information tent is located on the right of our Kaumatua marquee. Look out for the Tūrangitukua red tent‼️

Also GAZEBOS‼️ Gazebos are allowed however it’s important to be mindful of other whānau therefore gazebos are only allowed to be put up at the back of the field.
