As the days get colder, it can be tempting to stay inside and let your wellbeing slip.

But winter is a good time to reconnect with whanau, your community, and the things that help keep you well.

Most importantly, winter can feel long when you're on your own. Take a moment to reach out to whanau, friends, neighbours, or someone you haven't heard from in a while. A phone call, a visit, a cup of tea, or a simple "How are you?" can make a real difference. Sometimes, just knowing someone cares is enough to change a person's day.

Winter wellness is about more than taking vitamins or enjoying a hot bowl of soup.

It's about staying connected.

It's about getting outside for a bit of fresh air, making time for movement, getting enough rest, and looking after the people around us.

Be honest: have you left the house today?

Even a short walk around the block, a few minutes of sunshine, or a catch-up with a friend can do wonders for your wellbeing.

Small actions can make a big difference this winter. 💚

In ten years, your future self probably won't remember the gym session you skipped. But you might be glad you chose healthier kai more often.

You won't remember how busy life felt.
But you might be thankful you made time for that health check.

The small choices we make today lay the foundation for our hauora tomorrow.

Your future health is not built in one big moment. It is built one step, one meal, and one choice at a time. The best time to invest in your health isn't when something goes wrong. It's now. Every healthy choice is a gift to your future self.

A little more movement each day. A little more nourishing kai. A little more care for your wellbeing.

It all adds up.

What is one small thing you could start today that your future self will thank you for?

All our services are free for everyone living in our rohe. We are here to support you and your whanau whenever you are ready.

Heart disease often begins quietly, long before any signs show up.

Things like high blood pressure or cholesterol can build up over the years, even if you feel well. Many people are caught off guard when a health problem suddenly appears.

The good news is, a quick health check can spot risks early. This lets you make small changes now so you can look after your hauora (overall wellbeing) before bigger problems start.

Caring for your heart means being there for your tamariki, mokopuna, partner, and whanau for many years ahead.

Don't wait until you feel unwell. Our team is here with free health support for everyone in our rohe.

Your dog might be onto something. 🐾

June is Move Your Butt Month, a reminder that moving more doesn't have to mean joining a gym or running a marathon.

Sometimes it's as simple as:
🐾 Taking the dog for a walk
🚶 Going around the block
🌳 Getting some fresh air
👨‍👩‍👧 Spending time with whanau

Every little bit of movement counts. This June, challenge yourself to sit less and move more.

Your dog will probably be pretty happy about it too. 🐶💚

Do you know a tane who needs a check-in?

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones carrying the most.

The dad who is always there for everyone. The mate who always says he's "all good."

The brother, uncle, cousin, or koro who puts everyone else's needs before his own.

This Men's Health Month, take a moment to check in.

A text.

A phone call.

A quick korero.

Sometimes knowing someone cares can make all the difference.

Men's Health Month is a reminder that looking after our health isn't something we have to do alone.

A simple "How are you really doing?" could be the conversation someone needs today.

Check in with the tane in your life. Not because something is wrong.

Because they matter.

Today is Safe Sleep Day, Te Ra Mokopuna. Every pepi in our whanau deserves a safe and peaceful sleep.

It’s a good reminder that making every sleep a safe sleep helps protect our precious pepi. Safe Sleep Day is about raising awareness of SUDI (Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy) and supporting whānau with simple, everyday ways to keep pepi safe.

Here are some simple foundations for safe sleep:

Pepi are safest in their own flat, firm bed with firm sides, like a wahakura, cot, or bassinet.

Always place pepi on their back for every sleep, with nothing near their face, such as toys, loose blankets, cords, or pillows.

Make sure the sleep space is free from smoke, v**e, alcohol and drugs. Whanau, we all have a part to play in keeping our pepi safe.

These simple steps can make a big difference for our whanau.

Let’s work together so every pepi in our community has a safe sleep every time.

Share this korero to help spread the safe sleep message to whanau across our community.
