Marty Grenfell has resigned. But replacing one person will not fix Tauranga if the system stays the same.

The real decisions are often made before councillors cast the final vote - when reports are written, options narrowed, money committed, and the public is still not in the room.

We have 5000 flyers on the way to promote the petition to ask Parliament to investigate Tauranga City Council's property deals over $2 million.

Please email [email protected] if you can help us deliver the flyers to letterboxes, put up on community notice boards or ask shop owners to display in their window etc. If you would like the template for the flyer so you can arrange to have more flyers printed, please let us know.

What could be behind the Council 22 September agenda’s reference to “Community Assets” in publicly excluded meetings?

Today, Tauranga City Council has publicly confirmed it will explore:

• future governance and delivery options for Tauranga Airport; and
• future ownership, governance and delivery options for community assets, including Bay Venues assets and activities.
