🌳Vines - Japanese honeysuckle, blue morning glory, ivy, moth plant

Not all w**ds are equal.

When managing w**ds for ecological restoration, the goal isn't necessarily to remove every exotic plant we can find.

Some w**ds are genuinely transformative — they can dominate a site, suppress native regeneration and fundamentally change the ecosystem. Others may be present without posing the same long-term threat.

That distinction matters when resources are limited.

Instead of asking:

“Where are all the w**ds?”

A better question can be:

“Which w**ds are actually stopping this ecosystem from recovering, now and in the future?”

Prioritising those species first can make restoration work more targeted, more affordable and ultimately more effective.

Restoration Nation ft. Restore Native Plant Nursery

Every restoration story starts somewhere 🌳 For Adam Thompson, founder of Restore Native, it began with a love of trees and birds that took root on his own land near Cambridge. Over the years, that passion grew into a bigger dream, making native restoration easier and more achievable for other farmers too. Restore Native exists because Adam believes restoring whenua shouldn't be complicated. It should be practical, and something every farmer can take pride in.
