Satisfy Food Rescue was established in 2014 by a group of like minded people from Waikuku Beach, Rangiora and Kaiapoi, all who have a passion for caring for the environment and providing nutritious food to those who are struggling to get it. Food rescue is basically where food is rescued from food retailers and growers and redistributed to charities who work with people in need. A simple concept b

ut actual follow through requires a lot of organisation and inputs! Satisfy aims to work collaboratively with local communities and charities so that food that was otherwise destined for landfill or animal feed is distributed to those in the community who really need it.

🎃 Meet the pumpkin that needed a FORKLIFT to move it! 🚜

When our Volunteer and Rotary Club of Belfast-Kaiapoi member Alan donated this absolute unit of a pumpkin to Satisfy Food Rescue, we knew it was going to be special….but we had no idea just how special!

At a local Rotary event, Alan guessed the weight to within 250g using what can only be described as a scientifically questionable (yet somehow genius) equation of his own invention. 🧮🔬

Meanwhile, our team member Richard is somewhere behind the forklift… we promise he’s there, the pumpkin is just a little… dominant. 😄

This incredible donation will be diverted to Hope Community Trust who has agreed to take on the mammoth challenge of getting this out to our community….this is what food rescue is all about. Zero waste, maximum impact. 💚

👇 NOW IT’S YOUR TURN, can you guess the weight of this magnificent beast in the comments? Closest guess wins serious bragging rights and maybe a chocolate fish!

Ps. Story concept credit to team member Michelle 🥰 and hysterically funny photo optical illusion to Belinda 😂

Grateful for this morning’s visit from MPs Megan Woods, Reuben Davidson, and Dan Rosewarne. Three Labour MPs, one important conversation about food rescue, community resilience, and what it takes to keep kai moving to the people who need it most. Thank you for listening. 💚

There are different kinds of legends that are connected to Satisfy, and equally important are those who support our work as corporate partners. Helmores Lawyers have been proud supporters of our work for a great number of years and it was our pleasure to show them around our new warehouse today. Thanks for stopping by! 👋🏼 💚

Our team recently had the opportunity to visit Satisfy Food Rescue and see firsthand the incredible work they do within our community.

As a firm, we are proud to support Satisfy Food Rescue and the important role they play in reducing food waste and helping those in need. By rescuing quality surplus food and redistributing it to local people and organisations, they are making a real difference across our region every day.

It was fantastic to visit the passionate team behind the organisation and learn more about the impact of their work. Thank you for having us — we look forward to continuing to support what you do for our community.

For Pink Shirt Day this year our team proudly wore pink across the week to stand together against bullying and celebrate kindness, inclusion, and respect. 💗

A special shoutout to our incredible volunteer Janice Sword, pictured here in all her glorious shades of pink who absolutely went all out and brought the Pink Shirt Day spirit in full force! 🌸👏

We also want to acknowledge all of our amazing volunteers and staff who joined in, and supported…including a few camera-shy legends (you know who you are!)

At Satisfy, we know that strong communities are built on compassion, acceptance, and looking out for one another. The kindness our volunteers show every single day, to each other and to the people we support, is something worth celebrating.

Bullying has no place in our communities. Kindness always does. 💕

A huge thank you to author Michelle Clarke for generously donating a collection of reading and colouring books through Satisfy Food Rescue 📚✨

These books may not have made it to retail shelves, but they are absolutely perfect for bringing comfort, creativity and smiles to families staying at Ronald McDonald House South Island, where they have now found a wonderful new home.

It was delightful to be help able to do this ‘non food’ rescue and make sure they reach people who can use and enjoy them. Thanks Sylvia Jansen for connecting with Michelle and to Sarah and Petrea Barker for being our ‘models’ in the picture!

Thank you Michelle for helping turn surplus into something meaningful 💛

Look at these! 🎃 What an amazing autumn treat we got from the talented Pumpkin Grower Extraordinaire, Jo Topp of Waikuku.

Jo got in touch as she had way too much success with her squash planting this season.

Cue Satisfy to the rescue 🛟 🚐

Phillipa picked these beauties up over a couple of days. Now our food banks and recipient partners have over 200kg of nutritious carbs to distribute to our community. Some of the larger pumpkins requiring some H&S 101 safe lifting techniques!

Surely this takes the ‘oversow a row’ pay it forward to your community planting to another level! 🙌🏻

Help us celebrate and thank Jo in the comments section below ⬇️ 💚

**Update! I think we are sorted - Thanks Community!**
🥔 We need your help! 🥔

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Oxford & Districts Lions Club, we have had another wonderful huge delivery of freshly harvested potatoes to distribute through our partners supporting people in the community.

We are now looking for:
• Hessian sacks
• Coffee sacks
• Any breathable potato sacks or coverings

These help us store and protect the potatoes properly while we get them out to people who need them.

If you or your workplace might have some spare sacks available, we would love to hear from you. Please send us a message or drop them off to the team.

A huge thank you again to the Oxford & District Lions Club for helping keep good food flowing through our community 💚

Friday team, you absolute legends! 🏆✨
Our Friday volunteers just claimed the ‘Sign In’ Challenge Cup for April, and Dan delivered the most iconic acceptance speech on their behalf. This look is him realising the cup was empty! 😝 The Friday crew are famously competitive (and just a little bit cheeky 😄), and they were SO here for this win.
What they don’t know? Satisfy wins every single day our volunteers show up with heart. 💛
Which team is taking the crown in May? 👀
