Satisfy Food Rescue was established in 2014 by a group of like minded people from Waikuku Beach, Rangiora and Kaiapoi, all who have a passion for caring for the environment and providing nutritious food to those who are struggling to get it. Food rescue is basically where food is rescued from food retailers and growers and redistributed to charities who work with people in need. A simple concept b

ut actual follow through requires a lot of organisation and inputs! Satisfy aims to work collaboratively with local communities and charities so that food that was otherwise destined for landfill or animal feed is distributed to those in the community who really need it.

💚 National Volunteer Week starts today.

We have more than 55 volunteers who help make food rescue happen at Satisfy.

They collect and sort food, drive vans, support governance, distribute to community groups, support community events and help ensure good food reaches people rather than landfill.

This week we’re celebrating the people behind the work.

To every volunteer who has given their time, energy and care to our community, thank you.

Food rescue simply wouldn’t happen without you.

💙 Thank you, MainPower 💙

We were delighted to welcome some of the team from MainPower NZ Limited to Satisfy recently and show them around our new space and share firsthand the impact their ongoing partnership is having across our community.

Thanks to MainPower’s continued support, the equivalent of 73,000 meals have been diverted from landfill and redistributed to people across our community.

Partnerships like this make our work possible. By investing in food rescue, MainPower is helping create environmental, social, and economic benefits that reach far beyond our warehouse walls.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, learn more about our operation, and continue backing a more sustainable and food secure community.

Together, we’re proving that good food belongs on plates, not in landfill.

🥬 From paddock to people

Recently we welcomed a new donor. The Vege Shed has started dropping off an excess supply of fresh leaf lettuce, choosing to divert it through Satisfy rather than see quality produce go to waste.

While we regularly receive large multi pallet deliveries, or vans full of food diverted from supermarkets, our new, larger premises also allow us to support local growers and producers when they have surplus food that still deserves to be eaten.

Every donation, whether it’s a truck load or a single bin of produce, helps get good food into our community while reducing unnecessary waste.

A huge thank you to The Vege Shed for helping ensure this fresh produce reaches local people.

🎃 Meet the pumpkin that needed a FORKLIFT to move it! 🚜

When our Volunteer and Rotary Club of Belfast-Kaiapoi member Alan donated this absolute unit of a pumpkin to Satisfy Food Rescue, we knew it was going to be special….but we had no idea just how special!

At a local Rotary event, Alan guessed the weight to within 250g using what can only be described as a scientifically questionable (yet somehow genius) equation of his own invention. 🧮🔬

Meanwhile, our team member Richard is somewhere behind the forklift… we promise he’s there, the pumpkin is just a little… dominant. 😄

This incredible donation will be diverted to Hope Community Trust who has agreed to take on the mammoth challenge of getting this out to our community….this is what food rescue is all about. Zero waste, maximum impact. 💚

👇 NOW IT’S YOUR TURN, can you guess the weight of this magnificent beast in the comments? Closest guess wins serious bragging rights and maybe a chocolate fish!

Ps. Story concept credit to team member Michelle 🥰 and hysterically funny photo optical illusion to Belinda 😂

Grateful for this morning’s visit from MPs Megan Woods, Reuben Davidson, and Dan Rosewarne. Three Labour MPs, one important conversation about food rescue, community resilience, and what it takes to keep kai moving to the people who need it most. Thank you for listening. 💚

There are different kinds of legends that are connected to Satisfy, and equally important are those who support our work as corporate partners. Helmores Lawyers have been proud supporters of our work for a great number of years and it was our pleasure to show them around our new warehouse today. Thanks for stopping by! 👋🏼 💚

Our team recently had the opportunity to visit Satisfy Food Rescue and see firsthand the incredible work they do within our community.

As a firm, we are proud to support Satisfy Food Rescue and the important role they play in reducing food waste and helping those in need. By rescuing quality surplus food and redistributing it to local people and organisations, they are making a real difference across our region every day.

It was fantastic to visit the passionate team behind the organisation and learn more about the impact of their work. Thank you for having us — we look forward to continuing to support what you do for our community.
