We are blown away by our kind volunteer Petrea, who has gone above and beyond this year!

Petrea has been growing for Satisfy in her own garden for quite some time, now she's also put her neighbour's unused garden space to good use, planting it out with one purpose in mind: growing fresh, healthy produce specifically for Satisfy to share with our community.

Thank you Petrea and a big thank you to your generous neighbour for sharing the space. You're both a true inspiration. 💚🙏🏼

Huge thanks to the team at the The Brook Bar & Eatery 🍲🍌

Today we collected another batch of hearty homemade soup and freshly baked banana bread, lovingly made by the Brook Bar crew for our community. They’ve been doing this week after week, and it makes a real difference to the people and families our recipient organisations support.

At a time when so many households are feeling the pinch, it’s genuinely heart-warming to see local businesses stepping up and doing their bit. Warm, nourishing kai like this brings comfort as well as a full belly.

Thank you, Brook Bar, for your generosity and your ongoing support. You’re a shining example of community spirit in action. 💚

A huge thank you to Z Rangiora and everyone who voted for us in Good in the Hood! 🧡

We’re so grateful to have received a share of Z Rangiora’s $5,000 local community fund. Every vote was a vote for good food staying out of landfill and reaching people in our community who need it.

This support helps keep our chiller running, our drivers and vans on the road, and surplus food moving to the 60+ community organisations we partner with. They’re the ones on the frontline getting kai onto tables, and this helps us keep them stocked.

Well done to other groups who shared in the fund. It’s brilliant to see Z Energy backing so much good work across Aotearoa.

Today is the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste. Globally, over 1 billion tonnes of food is lost/wasted every year. Closer to home, our North Canterbury community is showing what’s possible when we work together to buck this trend!

Over our last financial year, our fight against food waste has achieved truly extraordinary outcomes:

🚛 Over 450,000kg of edible food rescued from going to landfill

🏬 51 generous food donor partners ranging from supermarkets to local growers

🙌🏽 87 dedicated volunteers giving their time and energy to collect, sort, and pack

🍽️ 60 recipient organisations distributing to families in need

❤️ An estimated 200,000 people nourished with kai across Waimakariri, Hurunui, Kaikoura, and greater Christchurch

Food Rescue and reducing food waste doesn’t just protect our environment. It’s about making sure perfectly good, nutritious food achieves its true purpose: feeding people.

A massive thank you to our donor partners, volunteers, funders, and corporate sponsors who makes this work possible. Together, we are building a more sustainable and connected North Canterbury! 💚
