🎉 $1,639 for youth mentoring!

The results are in, and thanks to your votes during Z Energy Waikuku’s Good in the Hood campaign, Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Canterbury has received an incredible $1,639! 💜🙌

Every token dropped into our voting box helped make this possible. These funds will help us recruit, screen and train volunteer mentors, carefully create new mentoring matches and provide the ongoing professional support that helps those relationships thrive.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and to the amazing team at Z Waikuku for once again choosing to support our mahi. Your generosity helps ensure more local tamariki and rangatahi have a trusted adult firmly in their corner.

Meet Deserted, an original acrylic by local artist Scott McIntosh, generously donated to our silent fundraising auction with a reserve of just ONE DOLLAR! 👀

Valued at $450, Scott’s bold, distinctive work blends influences from the South Island landscape with tattoo and skate culture, creating art that’s anything but traditional.

And Scott has a pretty good excuse for not joining us on Friday night - it’s also opening night for his first solo exhibition, Bullseye, at Ashe Art Gallery! 🎨

We’re thrilled to have an original work by acclaimed artist and muralist Joel Hart in this year’s live auction.

Known for his distinctive contemporary style and striking large-scale murals, Joel’s work can be seen throughout North Canterbury - including on the Rangiora Eye Care building.

🎨 ONE OF OUR MOST VALUABLE DONATED PAINTINGS - AND IT COULD BE YOURS THIS FRIDAY!

Princess’ Bath by North Canterbury artist Susan Lily Ferguson is going under the hammer at The BIG Art Auction Fundraiser this Friday night. 🔨 And what you’re seeing here is just a glimpse of it!

The full work measures an impressive 91 x 61cm, is an original acrylic on linen inspired by Mt Princess at St James Station and is valued at $1,800.

Susan is an award-winning Rangiora artist whose work spans landscapes, portraiture, abstract and figurative pieces, with paintings finding homes throughout New Zealand, Australia, the UK and USA.

Princess’ Bath has been generously donated to our fundraising auction and 100% of the winning bid will support one-to-one youth mentoring for local tamariki. 💜

🎨 IN THREE DAYS’ TIME, RANGIORA WILL COME TOGETHER FOR A NIGHT THAT COULD CHANGE YOUNG LIVES.

And Yumi McLean and her daughter will be there with us! 💜

Yumi is an award-winning, Japanese-born ceramic artist who turns everyday objects into sculptures that make you look twice and smile. Her donated piece for Friday’s fundraiser? Vegemite. 😄

Somewhere in North Canterbury, there’s an Aussie who would absolutely love this. Tag all the Vegemite lovers you know!

This little cutie is valued at $130 and 100% of the winning bid will help give a local child the steady support of a mentor. Yumi has made us smile with her art and she’s helping us create more moments of connection for young people too.

TWO BEAUTIFUL ORIGINALS WITH A DISTINCTLY RURAL FEEL…

Local wildlife artist Peg Molyneux, the artist behind Out Of Water, has generously donated TWO original pieces of work to The BIG Art Auction Fundraiser and we have a feeling these will find a few admirers here in North Canterbury!

🦌 The Quiet Companion is a large original watercolour on canvas, valued at $650 and created especially for our fundraiser. It's going under the hammer in Friday night’s LIVE auction with NO RESERVE! 👀

🐑 She Who Tends is another large original watercolour, valued at $450 and featuring in our silent auction across the weekend.

Peg is known for detailed wildlife paintings full of personality and character and has also been commissioned by Shimano Fishing New Zealand, with her artwork reproduced across its apparel and merchandise.

Two original works. Two chances to take home something special. And 100% of both winning bids will support local youth mentoring. 💜
