First trial run done, and we'll admit to some nerves, especially around 3am, when the heavens opened over our roof. But the rain cleared, and parkrunners and volunteers gathered at the Linklater gazebo.
It was good to see some faces we hadn't seen for a while, and our barefoot parkrunner wisely opted for shoes. 82 walkers and runners came through the finish funnel, most of them smiling.
First home was in 19:40, a seriously good time on a course that, as a few of you pointed out, isn't the easiest.
30 finishers came in under 30 minutes, the 30th at 29:03.The middle finisher came in at about 34:16.Two finished together at 1:01:30, which makes a nice tailwalkers moment.
One small ask: 11 finishers didn't have a barcode scanned. Trials are for practising, so no harm done, but please bring yours next week. If you haven't registered yet, it's free at parkrun.com/register. If you're already registered at another parkrun, just bring that barcode, no need to register again.
We learnt plenty, and it all goes into trial 2. A big thank you to our volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you, and your feedback has been gold.
parkrun doesn't let us process results until launch day, but Wendy is spending her Sunday afternoon seeing what she can do with the data we have from the scanners and timekeepers. Watch this space.
Trial 2 is next Sunday, 18 October, 8:30am at the gazebo. Then it's the real thing: Saturday 24 October, 8:00am. See you there.
