It has really been a very busy year for us - the spinners, weavers, knitters, felters of Palmerston North!

-We ran a very successful Fabulous Fibre Fair in June (aka Solstice Spin-in).

-Surprisingly to us amateurs, one of our fun spinning competition video (https://www.facebook.com/reel/2040717286561676) has gone viral (by our own standard!), which pleased us to no end!

-And for the first time, we're participating in the Manawatu Art Trail (Oct 17 & 18)!

In between the viral video and the Art Trail, an exhibition of our members' work is taking place at the Te Manawa Gallery (finish on Oct 11). As we're right in spring and the middle of school holiday, why not take the time and drop in to see some fabulously creative work in a serene setting. Give yourself a chance to try out spinning, weaving and band weaving on inkle loom there too. Of course, many works are for sale!

And with lots of cheers and claps, the Fibre Creations 2026 Exhibition MSWG Palmerston North is open! The Mayor of Palmerston North, Grant Smith, officially opened the event this afternoon and presented trophies and awards.

So, here are the warm woolies - we still need them in spring!

Many of us often wonder where the baby knittings go. Except for a few going to keep grandies and great-grandies warm and to support overseas projects, the rest are knitted for the hospital babies. These baby-wear knitters are phenomenal!

As we're in September, and believe it or not September is the month with overwhelming large number of babies born, these baby knittings are wrapping the new borns!

Thanks you for the knitters with clicking needles among us!!!

It seems that spring might just be arriving - it's September after all! In the midst of this spring optimism, we're still to confront a challenging weekend of wind (lots of it), sunshine (warm), rain (drizzle), still more wind, and a couple of earth quakes!

What could be better to do than fronting the wild and unpredictable weather? Weaving of course! Six ladies joined Maureen and Joy in a workshop on four-shaft weaving. As you can see, the weather was the last thing in the minds of these ladies!

It has been a windy weekend in the Manawatu! Sure sign that spring is approaching 🌬.
We've only got a few FOs to show here, as most of them have been submitted as exhibition entries by our members. Top secret pieces!

Repair Cafe happening this Saturday the 29th of August! This is a chance to get your treasured item back to working order (and maybe learn a new skill!).

Come along to get items repaired, enjoy the take-apart table for children, connect over a hot cuppa, learn about repairs and embrace the sense of togetherness in a warm, welcoming local community event. Bring your belongings and our wonderful volunteers will do their best to repair them.

There is no cost. Koha to help us continue to run these events is always appreciated.
