Today our 2026 grant round opens, with funding available across different funds supporting communities throughout Te Tauihu.

All of our funds are open at once, creating opportunities for organisations working across a wide range of causes, from environmental projects and programmes supporting tamariki, rangatahi, and local employment.

Grants of up to $15,000 are available, depending on the fund.

If you have a project, programme, or initiative that would benefit your community, we encourage you to take a look at the criteria and see what funding opportunities may be available.

Applications are open from 1–30 June 2026.

Know an organisation doing great work in our region? Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with your networks.

Only a few more days left to get nominations in!

Apparently Marlborough is full of humble people… because nominations have been sloooow coming in 👀

So we’re extending nominations for the 2026 Marlborough Community & Volunteer of the Year Awards!

We know there are amazing volunteers, community champions, youth leaders, and grassroots legends out there quietly doing good stuff every day. We just need people to actually nominate them 😅

So consider this your gentle-but-slightly-chaotic reminder to stop saying:

“Someone else probably will…”

Because sometimes nobody does.

📅 Extended deadline: MAY 31st
🏆 Nominate your legends here: https://volunteermarlborough.org.nz/events/awards

Let’s give the good humans the recognition they deserve 💛

Times are tough right now with funding shrinking while need still grows. The team at Nelson Environment Centre runs Kai Rescue, supporting thousands of people across Nelson & Tasman weekly. Unfortunately it's at real risk of closing and they're asking for some help. If you can, please see their post below.

We're facing a funding crisis — and we need your help to keep going.

The reality is hard. Across Aotearoa, charities like ours are feeling the squeeze as funding shrinks and community need grows. We're not alone in this, but right now, we need our own community to show up for us.

Nelson Environment Centre needs to raise $40,000 by end of June to keep the programme running.

Here's how you can help:
💚 Donate — $20 rescues around 20 kg of food. Every dollar keeps the programme running. - www.nec.org.nz/donate
🛍️ Shop at our ReUse Shops — every purchase helps. Income from the shops supports NEC's programmes including Kai Rescue, so shopping second-hand does more than you might think.
🙌 Fundraise — organise a collection or event on our behalf.
🎁 Donate a raffle prize — items or experiences welcome, especially from local businesses.
🤝 Partner with us — businesses and organisations, we'd love to talk.
