A HUGE THANK YOU TO PUB CHARITY LIMITED!

Volleyball Hawke’s Bay is incredibly grateful for the generous funding support we receive from Pub Charity Limited. Without the support of funders like Pub Charity, we simply couldn’t continue to run volleyball competitions, programmes and events for our Hawke’s Bay community.

This funding helps us keep providing opportunities for people of all ages to play, compete, connect and enjoy volleyball throughout the region. We truly appreciate the contribution and the difference it makes to our volleyball community.

We’d also love our community to get out and support the local venues that help make this funding possible over summer!

The Duke of Gloucester
The Station
The Sideline Bar
The Bay View Hotel

Next time you're heading out for a meal, drink or catch-up with friends, support local and support the businesses that support our community!

Thank you, Pub Charity Limited, and thank you to our amazing Hawke’s Bay community for your continued support!

THANK YOU SPORT HAWKE'S BAY AND SPORT NZ!

Volleyball Hawke’s Bay was proud to deliver a 6-week volleyball programme at the Rodney Green Arena Hawke's Bay, with Disability Sport & Recreation Hawke’s Bay in Term 3, led by the fantastic Paia Vilo.

It was awesome to see returning players, new participants and everyone encouraging each other throughout the sessions. A huge thank you to Paia, a past HB representative player and current member of Unity Volleyball Club, for creating such a positive and supportive environment.

Thank you Sport Hawke’s Bay and Tu Manawa Active Aotearoa, supported by Sport NZ, for helping make this programme possible!

Welcome to Our New Development & Competition Officer

Dear Volleyball Hawke’s Bay Members,

On behalf of the Volleyball Hawke’s Bay Board, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Kiran Maharaj as our new Development & Competition Officer.

Kiran brings more than 20 years of experience in sport and recreation leadership across New Zealand and South Africa, together with a lifelong passion for volleyball. He has been involved in volleyball for almost 30 years as a player, coach, administrator and volunteer, giving him extensive experience across grassroots participation, school sport, representative programmes, governance and major event delivery.

Most recently, Kiran has been supporting community sport through his role with Nelson Community Venues, delivering regional competitions and events while working closely with Regional Sports Organisations and community partners.

In his new role, Kiran will work with schools, clubs, coaches, referees and volunteers across Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay to support competitions, representative programmes and the continued growth of both indoor and beach volleyball throughout our region.

Kiran will officially commence in the role on Monday 5 October 2026. From this date, he can be contacted at [email protected] for enquiries relating to development programmes, competitions, representative volleyball and other areas of his role.

We look forward to Kiran bringing his knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to volleyball to our community. His appointment is an exciting step as we continue to strengthen our programmes, support our volunteers and create positive opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

Please join us in welcoming Kiran to Volleyball Hawke’s Bay. We encourage our members, clubs, schools, coaches, referees and volunteers to introduce themselves and support him as he settles into the role.

We look forward to the continued growth and development of volleyball across our region.

Kind regards,

Volleyball Hawke’s Bay Board
