Riverside Community is a place where individuals have come together for Co operative Living for Peace and Sustainability.

Riverside Community was established in 1941 by a small group of Christian Pacifists who, in the face of the 2nd World War, were eager to practice ways of living that were based on cooperation and sustainability and the repudiation of war. The founders of Riverside believed equality, social justice and fairness to be the main pillars of peace. We have come a long way from the original religious foc

us and consider ourselves a secular and pluralist community these days. Riverside enterprises include a dairy farm (Riverside Milk), several options of tourist accommodation (Hostel, Sojourn), a large venue for hire suitable for weddings, workshops and other events (Riverside Community Cultural Centre), an art gallery (Che Vincent Gallery) as well as a mechanical/engineering workshop (Riverside Garage), a joinery and organic gardens. The Riverside Community Trust Board also owns Riverside Cafe which is currently leased out.

Something new is brewing at Kōmitimiti! Our (so far Friday) Barista Andrew is going to hold space for everybody at COMMON GROUND, a wee café on Thursdays & Fridays here at Kōmitimiti 🎉 read on for his message and details 🤗

"Hi, I’ll be taking over the Kōmitimiti Café space at Riverside for two days a week with a new café “Common Ground”. Many of you know me but for those that don’t, my name is Andrew. I’m passionate about coffee and food and I’m bringing a fresh, inclusive vibe to your Thursdays - from 10am to 2pm - and Fridays - 10am to 4pm.

What’s on the menu?
· Freshly brewed coffee and drinks selection
· Seasonal, warming soups
· A rotating selection of counter food, always with vegan and veggie – friendly choices available

Thursdays 10am - 2pm

🕐VIEWING🕐: Monday, 23rd March, 9.30am. Meet in front of the Riverside Office. To get there, please take the entrance off Community Road. Park in the yard area near the Riverside Milk vending machine, and follow the signs to the office.
