Traffic will be HELD in both directions for periods of up to 20 minutes.

During working hours there will be NO ACCESS for heavy vehicles (class 2 medium rigid vehicles or above). Over the past six weeks, we have been talking with communities across Tasman about what matters most to them as we prepare the next 10-Year Plan. These conversations are helping us check that the priorities reflect the needs, concerns and aspirations of Tasman’s residents.

While each community has its own character and local focus, there was a strong level of consistency across the meetings we held. We have summarised the themes we heard into six topics.

1. Plan ahead, maintain and connect systems
Communities want the Council to take a proactive, joined-up approach to infrastructure, services and growth.

2. Value, affordability and fair funding
Communities want confidence that spending is necessary, affordable, appropriately prioritised and delivers value.

3. Trust, local voice and closing the loop
Communities want transparency, follow-through, and visibility of how decisions are made.

4. Protecting local identity while planning for growth
Communities want growth, services and investment to reflect local circumstances, identity and character.

5. Enable, partner and coordinate
Communities generally recognise that the Council cannot solve every issue directly, but want the Council to work alongside communities, coordinate solutions, reduce unnecessary barriers and support local initiative.

6. Water, environment and resilience
Communities view the natural environment as both an asset to protect and a source of risk that must be planned for.

These are the themes that we have heard so far. As we continue with the 10-Year Plan, we invite you to share your thoughts on our Let’s Talk Tasman page on Shape Tasman. We welcome your perspective at any time through this page as the programme progresses.
