Growing Community and helping people find their people is something near and dear to us. We love seeing our meeting rooms being used to help folks connect and gain access to local support. Our weekly Art sessions are a great example of using this space to build community. With its easy to access location, close parking, topnotch lighting and heating, plus loads of meeting resources. It is a great option if you are a club or a group needing a low-cost meeting option.

Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July 2026
10.00am – 5.00pm daily

The STDC Arts Co-ordinator is excited to offer an opportunity for South Taranaki residents to learn from and create alongside renown Aotearoa textile artist at this unique creative wananga weekend. Maungarongo (Ron) Te Kawa (Ngati Porou) is a self-taught textile artist, who lives and creates in Woodville. His larger-than-life wall hangings celebrate his love for Te Ao Māori and the people of the land. Ron exhibits regularly in public galleries throughout Aotearoa and has gained international residencies.

“Running wananga/workshops is the fun side of my art practice, holding space for people to play and make in a fun non-judgemental safe space. We learn together, everyone brings something special into the room. Participants are welcome to explore their own themes or to make taniwha and Kuini crowns with us”. Wananga participants also have the opportunity to exhibit their artworks alongside Ron’s at Lysaght Watt Gallery in Hāwera in August/September. Spaces are limited, registration is essential. Only $10 per person to secure your place. Cuppa and some kai provided - fuel for creativity!

To register, email STDC Arts Coordinator, Michaela Stoneman - [email protected]

Along with their extensive toy range, which you can view and order online, they also run a FREE indoor play session for under 5s. Nau mai - Haere mai,

On behalf of all Rautāpatu Foundation Trustees, we warmly invite you to our fourth community wānanga for The BIG Kai Redesign, a mana-centred kaupapa to co-design a resilient kai strategy for Taranaki.

Taranaki’s kai space is full of diverse and thriving initiatives supported by whānau, hapū, and local businesses. The BIG Kai Redesign aims to look critically at the current Food System, honour mātauranga Māori, and understand & strengthen the flow of kai and nurture the wellbeing of people, their whakapapa, and Te Taiao. Ultimately our goal is to weave existing kai initiatives, indigenous values, and aspirations across Taranaki into one regional strategy and action plan. Our focus is on:

Mana-Centred Values: Elevating cultural identity, dignity, and spiritual connection to kai
Circular & Regenerative Systems: Embracing innovative kai models that care for Te Taiao, eliminate waste, and support sustainability
Community Empowerment: A collaborative process drawing on the wisdom of whānau, hapū, our Pasifika communities, businesses and kai system kaitiaki

To date, our research highlights urgent Food System challenges in affordability, environmental harm, and inequity, calling for solutions rooted in indigenous knowledge and innovation.

We invite you to build the momentum and join us on this journey. Please feel free to forward to other whanau who have a passion for kai and systems thinking.

For catering purposes please register your attendance via the ticket link – there is NO cost to attend.
