Te Ara Pae Trust

Te Ara Pae Trust Te Ara Pae is a social services agency based in Hawera providing counselling, social work and advocacy services as well as anger change programmes.

Established in September 2013 as Summit House Trust then renamed Te Ara Pae Trust in February 2016, Te Ara Pae is about family and whānau wellness where individuals are empowered, families are supported and ultimately communities are strengthened. Our intent is to respond to the growing need for social work and counselling services in our modern South Taranaki lives. But it is also to respond to

the work needed to support whānau experiencing family violence in all its forms or having to deal with the consequences and effects of that violence. Te Ara Pae supports clients on pathways to primary care, social services, legal advice and anything they identify as needing. Our purpose and strategy is ‘making it happen’. Exactly what ‘it’ is depends on what the client is going through, what they want to achieve and what they are willing to do to reach their objective. The focus is entirely on the client as a person. So that means valuing who they are, acknowledging where they’re at and respecting their choices and decisions. At Te Ara Pae, we have qualified, competent and capable staff to help make it happen. On a day to day basis that may involve understanding anger so clients can change the way they respond to situational triggers; or getting to grips with issues that hold them back from living their lives; or even someone to walk beside them to deal with staff in government agencies.
