Vaiaso o te ‘Gana Tuvalu 🇹🇻
This morning, Katalina Kainano, Team Leader of the K’aute Early Learning | ELC shared a heartfelt talanoa about her homeland, Tuvalu at our Village lotu.
Katalina took us on a journey across Tuvalu’s nine islands, sharing stories of language, culture, faith, and community. She spoke about the importance of protecting and nurturing the Tuvalu language, passing cultural knowledge to younger generations, staying grounded in faith and identity, learning more about Tuvalu’s traditions, and understanding the challenges the nation faces, including climate change and coastal flooding.
Through photos and personal insights, we learned about the beauty of Tuvaluan life, from fatele dance and traditional weaving to the strong values that continue to connect Tuvaluans across generations.
Her talanoa reflected this year’s Tuvalu Language Week theme: “Protect and nurture the Tuvalu language for the wellbeing of present and future generations.” A reminder that language is more than words. It carries our stories, our heritage, and our sense of belonging.
