Care doesn’t stop at the door of Vincent Ward — and it certainly doesn’t stop when the weather turns.
Beyond hospital walls, nurses right across our community are out there every single day, supporting patients and whānau wherever they are. Come snow, rain, hail, or shine, they show up with compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication.
On International Nurses Day, we recognise the 2026 theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” It’s a theme that reflects the work nurses do every day — here at Dunstan and across our wider community.
Nursing in a rural setting requires broad clinical expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to adapt quickly. Across inpatient care, acute and assessment services, outpatient and specialist areas, and in homes and community settings — the impact of this care is deeply felt.
Much of this work happens quietly and out of sight, but it keeps people safe, supported, and connected where they need it most.
Today, of all days, we stand to thank you. 💙
For your professionalism, your commitment, and the way you support one another in all conditions — you are truly invaluable to our community.
We are incredibly proud of our nursing workforce — both within Dunstan and across our region.
Ngā mihi nui, and thank you for everything you do.
