We are just days away from a new year and the opening of Book sale 2026! 1st January 9am 3 Skird Street doors open.

Alexandra Rotary book sale co-convener Mark Willyams collects donations from the bin at the Alexandra Mitre 10. The annual book sale will open on January 1 and run for four days. Mr Willyams said donations were coming in fast with many people downsizing to smaller properties and parting with their book collections. Donations could be left in the blue bins at businesses around the town. Rotary members emptied the bins on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, delivering the goods to their sorting shed.

Then on Monday afternoons a group, including Mr Willyams and fellow convener Hugh McIntyre, sorted books and other donations into huge wooden bins ready to be delivered to the Memorial Hall, Skird St, where the book sale will be held.

People were welcome to continue to donate items even during the sale, Mr Willyams said.
