Craftsperson and furniture maker Greg Quinn has work featured in two current group exhibitions, Home Studio and Good Company.

Home Studio is an exhibition of work at Objectspace Ōtautahi that explores the boundaries between domestic and working spaces. Open until 28 June, Central Christchurch.

Good Company at brings together five contemporary artists and designers in a display of exquisitely hand crafted objects. Open until 19 June, Te Whanganui a Tara.

We encourage you to go along and visit these wonderful exhibitions full of talented makers.

Transform fabric scraps into new creative projects in our hands-on Patchwork workshop!

Mirabel Oliver will guide you through designing and hand sewing a small patchwork piece that could be a coaster, pot holder, needle case, or part of a larger project to finish at home. This is a wonderfully resourceful craft, giving new life to material that may otherwise be wasted.

Get creative and leave with the confidence to turn even the smallest scraps into something beautiful.

Our very own Annie Mackenzie is one of the selectors for Changing Threads 2026!

Changing Threads Contemporary Textile Fibre Art Awards is a national exhibition run by Arts Council Nelson. Taking place at between 6 June—18 July, the exhibition features leading contemporary fibre and textile practitioners from around Aotearoa.

Congratulations to all the finalists! The awards presentation is being held this Friday 5 June, all welcome.

P.S. Annie will be teaching two workshops in Whakatū Nelson this weekend, rag rug making and drop spindling, and there are still spots to join her to learn these weaving and fibre skills 🧶

Learn from award-winning weaver and spinner Annie Mackenzie in Whakatū Nelson this winter.

After studying sculpture at the University of Canterbury, Annie went on to learn her craft through the New Zealand Woolcrafts Society of Spinners and Weavers Guilds. In 2024, Annie was the recipient of Dame Doreen’s Gift awarded by the Blumhardt Foundation.

Based on Te Tai o Poutini, the West Coast, Annie is visiting Whakatū as a part of our annual tour. You won’t want to miss this special opportunity to join her workshops!
