RSA Franklin

RSA Franklin The RSA is a great way to meet people, share stories, have a laugh, help out and get involved with your community.

Welfare and remembrance plays a special part in the life of the RSA. Every year, with the passing of time, the number of veterans and those who lived through war grows smaller. But our remembrance is more than a salute to those who fought and those we lost. It’s a way of carrying forward the stories and ideals of our grandfathers and great grandfathers, and grandmothers, which are just as relevant in today’s world as they were then.

RSA Franklin Veteran's enjoyed an array of very interesting memorabilia at their meeting on Tuesday. We got to know each other a little more as we heard about their, or relatives, time in the services. From nurses' uniform and travel, to photos of huts, tents, ships, to belts and hats with insignia and badges, and even money with the script that was used alongside it. We discovered that we really should have all this recorded for posterity and certainly for Grandchildren.

Tuesday 14th April at 2pm, members are invited to bring memorabilia from their time in service. It could be something you wore, something you bought overseas, a photo, anything you wish to show and share the story behind it maybe :) Remember Veterans meeting is only the name of the meeting. You don't have to be a veteran.

Our first Friday night meal in the temporary RSA meeting space in the Chamber Room of the Town Hall was well received. A good number attended to enjoy a meal.
A huge thank you to the building company that have tried hard to accommodate us and our requirements. Also the volunteers that helped pack up and shift all the necessary gear to the Chamber Room. A special thanks to the Women's section who managed to serve so many people Friday night with very little preparation time to get used to their new cooking surroundings and to the bar staff who served drinks with their usual cheery smile. Thank you all :)
