The next guest speaker for the Veteran's section is John Duncan with the topic 'Home Guard'. It will be on Tuesday 8th September at 2pm.
Those of the Historical Society that missed John's talk, Anzac weekend, have been given the opportunity to join us.

RSA Franklin held their 2026 AGM Sunday 19th July
It was a well-attended meeting with information shared on the running of the club, a renovation update, as well as the election of officers voted upon.
The main results were as follows:-
Patron - Doug McNally President – Maurice Farr
Vice Presidents – Marion McDonald and Joe Erridge
Secretary – Tracie Erridge
Treasurer – Hayley McGill-Tobin
Committee members- Thelma Sinton, Lorraine Kidd, Greg Hicks, Gina McGlade, Tony Walker, Phillip Benade , Janke Shydom Accountant - Roger Hiscock

Remember that one of the meetings that any RSA Franklin member can attend is the Veteran's meeting. The next one is on Tuesday 14th July 2pm. We are so lucky to have a former navy man and committee member, Joe Erridge, as guest speaker. Amongst Joe's service, he spent time in Afghanistan. What is he going to share with us? Come along to hear for yourself.

RSA Franklin Veteran's enjoyed an array of very interesting memorabilia at their meeting on Tuesday. We got to know each other a little more as we heard about their, or relatives, time in the services. From nurses' uniform and travel, to photos of huts, tents, ships, to belts and hats with insignia and badges, and even money with the script that was used alongside it. We discovered that we really should have all this recorded for posterity and certainly for Grandchildren.

Tuesday 14th April at 2pm, members are invited to bring memorabilia from their time in service. It could be something you wore, something you bought overseas, a photo, anything you wish to show and share the story behind it maybe :) Remember Veterans meeting is only the name of the meeting. You don't have to be a veteran.
