Black Screen Collective Online Workshop with Sherman Payne

Black Creatives Aotearoa invites people of African, Caribbean and Afro-diasporic heritage based in Aotearoa to join us online on Friday 20 June at 10am NZT for a screenwriting and pitching workshop with writer, producer and showrunner Sherman Payne.

Sherman’s career spans writers’ rooms, producing for HBO, and showrunning the Forest Whitaker-led drama Emperor of Ocean Park. He will share insights into career pathways, the US screen industry, and how to develop and communicate strong screen ideas.

The second half of the session includes a live elevator pitch segment, where three selected participants will receive feedback and guidance on their projects.

This workshop is open to Afro-diasporic screen creatives, writers, actors, directors, producers and storytellers based in Aotearoa. You do not need to already be part of BCA or BSC to attend.
