To Silo Theatre, thank you for helping us activate this beautiful space at the Auckland Pitt Street Methodist Church on Pitt Street, and to Auckland Live for generously lending us the music stands we needed.
And to our incredible actors, Jenn Onyeiwu Layla Pitt, ꕥ𝕶𝖆𝖞𝖑𝖎𝖒 𝕸𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖊𝖗ꕥ Taku Kenneth Chiketa thank you for your time, energy, care and generosity in stepping into the world of When We Marched. Bonus was to welcome Mia Ginaé Watkins who stepped in to read our stage directions and rounded of our incredible team.
Finally, filming a staged reading wouldn’t be possible without THE videographer extraordinaore - hugest thanks to S H A K I E Cinematography who spent the afternoon behind the camera capturing it all.
These scenes will be shared at the Dismantling the Doctrine conference in Rotorua, where will sit within a wider conversation about Black diaspora, Indigenous land, belonging and our relational futures here in Aotearoa.
There is something quite extraordinary about hearing words that have lived on the page suddenly breathe in a room. Today felt like another important step towards bringing fully to life.
And there is still a journey ahead.
