Have you spotted the hidden waka in our mural?

To some, it may just be another beautiful elemnet but for us, it's a nod to the historic Te Whau Portage, where waka were once carried between the Manukau and Waitematā Harbours, making this area a vital connection point for many years.

As the Te Whau Pathway continues to bring people together along this historic route, we're proud that our mural acknolwedges a small piece of Blockhouse Bay's rich history and the stories that have shaped our community.

Next time you're passing by make sure to find the waka, take a photo and tag us!

In just over a week, our whānau at the Centre will be coming together for our AGM and we'd love for you to join us.

Our Annual General Meeting is an opportunity to come together as a community, reflect on the year that's been and see what's instore for our future.

I think it’s safe to say our very first High Tea was a huge success!

To celebrate International Day of Older Persons, our team at the Centre took over our Small Hall yesterday and filled it with high tea vibes, delicious food and beautiful tables, ready to welcome our community in.

Those who attended certainly brought the rest — the laughter, the conversations, the smiles and all those happy faces that made the room feel so full of life. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. It was wonderful to see our community members come together, enjoy some good food and simply spend time connecting with one another.

And of course, a very special thank you to our wonderful volunteers and everyone behind the scenes who helped bring it all together. We’re also incredibly grateful to the Whau Local Board and COGS for providing the funding that helps make events such as this possible, allowing us to continue creating opportunities for our community to come together and celebrate.

These events really do take a village, and we’re so grateful for ours. ❤️

This group is ideal for confident beginners/intermediate knitters who are keen to create their very own pair of knitted socks.

We want to thank everyone who was involved with this project and most of all, we want to thank our community for their ongoing support and understanding during the disruptions we faced over the last few weeks.

A huge thank you to everyone in our Blockhouse Bay community who took the time to come down last Thursday and donate!

We had a whopping 34 donations from Blockhouse Bay, helping to potentially save 102 lives. That’s pretty incredible! ❤️

Keen to donate and get involved? Keep an eye out for upcoming NZ Blood donation drives in our Centre and wider community.

Kia ora koutou! 💚

Today marks the beginning of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori — a time to celebrate, use and grow te reo Māori in our everyday lives.

This year’s theme, Tāone Reo Māori – Te Reo Towns, reminds us that every community has a part to play in keeping te reo alive and thriving.

What better way to celebrate than by getting together and having a go?! Make sure to come down to our Centre this Thursday to make your own Kupu Jar!

Fill your jar with a collection of te reo Māori words and phrases to learn, share and use. Whether you’re just starting your reo journey or already have some favourite kupu, everyone is welcome!
