✨ Come Learn Fire & Flow with Te Ahi Ora ✨
Last weekend's Radiance Rising showcase drew an incredible crowd - and if it sparked something in you, this is your invitation to step in closer.
This Thursday evening, Te Ahi Ora founder Josh will be at Auckland Fire and Flow to teach anyone who'd like to learn. That means everyone from skilled performers wanting to refine their artistry, right through to absolute beginners who have never picked up a prop (or even been to a fire night before).
If you've ever left a fire show thinking "how do I even get involved in that?" - you're not alone. Most people have to wait months before someone finally pulls them in. You don't have to wait. Thursday is your chance.
The session will include structured teaching with practice props, progressing through to fire, as well as open flow time. Newer folks will be walked through the fundamentals of movement, prop handling, and fire safety - everything you need to feel genuinely confident before touching a lit prop. More experienced spinners can work on presence, transitions, and performance quality; the refinements that transform solid technique into something truly captivating.
About your teacher:
Josh is the founder of Te Ahi Ora, a fire performance and flow arts organisation that has worked with over 80,000 participants across 184 schools in Aotearoa. With a decade of developing structured, accessible learning pathways into the flow and fire arts, he's taught everyone from five-year-olds to grandparents, disabled adults to youth in prisons. He knows firsthand how transformative this discipline can be - and loves nothing more than watching someone find their flow for the very first time.
What to bring:
-Yourself and a willingness to play
-Foldout chair, water bottle & blanket recommended
-First-time fire dancers: wear cotton and tie back long hair (or wear a hat)
No gear, no experience, no particular fitness level required. All welcome.
