The 2026 Westlakers Golf Day is fast approaching!

This year the event will take place on Friday 8th May at Pupuke Golf Club. It promises to be a fun day out and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and the Best Dressed team.

Your participation will help raise funds for small projects that benefit all Westlake students, as well as helping to ease the financial burdens experienced by some Westlake families struggling to cover course contributions, sports fees, school trips and the basics such as food and uniform.

For full details and to secure your spot amongst the action, please register here: https://community.westlake.school.nz/2026GolfDay

Can’t make it to the tee? Not to worry, you can still contribute to the success of our fundraising event by sponsoring a hole, donating prizes, or contributing to cover event costs. We’d be keen to hear from you and explore options on how you can help make a difference. Please contact WBHS Event Manager, Michelle Nauer at [email protected]

Last week, Westlakers from the 1964–1969 cohort returned to campus for their annual reunion, organised by John De Vere (1969). Sixteen alumni enjoyed catching up over refreshments and plenty of laughs.
Headmaster Paul Fordham shared updates on the school’s recent growth and achievements and showed the group around the newly completed Music and Drama block that will open in 2026. Bill Smale (1970) spoke about the success and growth of the school’s OpenGround entrepreneurial programme that he has championed within the school.
David Jenkin (1969) shared stories from his career in piano restoration, including his work as a world expert in Steinway restoration.
It was a fantastic afternoon celebrating connection, memories, and the spirit of our Westlaker alumni community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last Friday’s Bevvies, Banter & Bowls!
It was an incredible evening of connection, competition, and celebration. Alumni from our founding years through to last year’s graduates came together.
A huge shout-out to Milford Bowls Club for hosting, and to our amazing sponsors: Mel & Pupuke Golf Club, The Taka Bar, Chop (formerly Seaview Meats), and Wayne King for crafting our annual trophy.
Special congratulations to Jimmy O’Brien (1981), recipient of the Westlaker Lifetime Membership Award—a true legend whose dedication spans decades of service to Westlake Boys High School
And hats off to our lawn bowls champions, The Dark Rollers, who claimed the trophy for the second time!
This event also helped raise funds for the Westlakers Hardship Fund, ensuring every Westlake boy can seize every opportunity, regardless of financial circumstances.
