NS TURTLE RESCUE 12 3042 0255136 02 We take in any reptiles and amphibians in any condition.

We give them suitable housing and any medical/veterinary treatment they may require. They require UVB lights, water heater, basking lights, filters, food and tanks/enclosures

They require specialised care so we can only use exotic vets

We will do our best to find homes for any unwanted, abandoned or neglected animals. (once well enough of course). PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE YOUR TURTLE INTO THE WILD!

Found in Woodhill, a tortoise! If you've lost one in that area please contact me with details of where it was lost from, type of tortoise and hopefully a photo or two. I would love to reunite this dude with its owner, I'm sure they're distraught. Thanks Rebecca

Another busy week. No one has claimed the found turtle from Albany. I've got a found turtle coming from Rakino Island of all places! Also picked up two wee surrenders last night, they came with 6 resident fish who're now in a separate tank adjusting to a less stressful life. The 2 red ears are small so can't be in a pond for at least another 18 months/2 years but still require a decent sized tank. Excuse the bare foot in the photo but it helps give an idea of their size. We have had a large female surrendered and another 3 coming in when I have space. If you're thinking of building a pond for turtles now is the perfect time! I'm going to Thames on Friday and happy to meet up along the way. On a nice note I went to buy my tortoises some hibiscus from Kings this week as they're 25% off and spotted these cute frogs in their pond enjoying the sun. Thanks Alex for the donation of food, always appreciated. As always donations towards vet bills, microchipping, food and petrol is always appreciated 12 3042 0255136 02 Thank you everyone for your support and kindness 💚 🐢 Rebecca

A big thank you to Jolene for your donation and to Tom for the amazing bag of frozen food. Our turtles absolutely loved their treats. A female Red Ear has been found in Albany if anyone is missing one, contact me. Please try to photograph your turtles plastron (the shell underneath) each plastron is unique in red ears just like our fingerprints and it can help identify your turtle if it's lost. I've attached some example photos below. I'm driving down to Thames on February 3rd, if you're keen to adopt a turtle and can tick off the requirements I'm happy to deliver or meet you along the way. Please message or call me if you have any questions. We currently only have Red Ears for adoption. We had a very sad old male delivered this week, he's been living rough for a while and has some nasty bites as well as shell damage and he's missing the end of his tail so he will be a long term resident while we get him back to full health. He's got the sweetest nature, no hissing or snapping even when I'm putting antiseptic on his wounds. We have some stunning girls in need of pond homes as well as a few smaller males suitable for tanks. If anyone is interested I have a 90cm turtle tank here, it has a leak so needs reselling, a Koha for the turtles and it's yours. Have a fabulous weekend Rebecca 🐢🐢🐢🐢

Sorry to have to ask again but...
Donations needed ....,The Hedgehog account is nearly empty again. This post is for me so I can keep doing my hedgehog rescue.
Also I have sick ones still coming in.
I have 46 in care and they are costing a fortune to feed.
I go through approximately 80 cans of chef jellymeat each week, also a large bag of purina cat bikkies and other cat foods for the fussy ones. lol.
Everything keeps going up in price sadly.
It also covers any medications they may need and bedding etc.
If you can donate anything that would be very much appreciated.
Vet bills can be quite expensive.
Due to so many price increases these days it is costing $350 plus a week just to feed my troops . If they need vet visits that is extra.
What a lot of people don't realise is that the wildlife fund vets have does NOT include hedgehogs . It is up to each individual vet as to what they charge. Most vets won't even help a hedgehog.
I would like to thank everyone who has donated no matter how much, every cent counts.

Thank you

A Gratitude post this morning. Thank you so much to Erin Isherwood, the Grim family, Gemma Corbett, Natalie's family and the lovely couple (sorry I didn't catch your name) who drove all the way from Papatoetoe to drop off a turtle they'd found on the side of the road along with food late last night. Natalie's family were walking on Waikowhai Beach when they spotted a turtle on the rocks. They waited half an hour for the tide to change and with the help of a local fisherman caught her and then delivered her to me. Without the kindness of people like yourselves donating food, money and your time we couldn't do what we do. Also a big shout out to the team at Auckland Biosecurity who are out there every day trying to keep our environment safe from creatures who really have no place in the wild. Thank you so much from me and the turtles ❤️ Rebecca

Well the New Year is showing no signs of slowing down. In the last two weeks I've picked up two found turtles, have another three coming in this week, rehomed two to a turtle paradise, had a leopard gecko arrive as a permanent resident retiree and answered multiple calls and messages. I've also been out trying to catch a few escapees. Tilly who was caught by Kathy will be with us for some time as she has quite a bit of shell rot and damage from living rough. She's been in the wild over 18 months so if anyone lost a turtle in Browns Bay around that time please get in touch. Our other turtle was found wandering along a road in Taupaki, she has damage to her shell which looked like she'd been clipped with a hole punch, on closer examination I think it's a dog bite as she has another injury nearby on her shell that's almost healed over. She is a beautiful big girl who presented me with 6 eggs last night. They've been disposed of but I took a photo of two so people could see how big they are. Of course red ears are now deemed pests in Auckland so absolutely no breeding or rehoming to mixed gender ponds. Between petrol, water rates, vet bills, power and food the costs are getting up there. We had $37.50 in donations in December and Maggie's vet bill alone was $152 so I won't be giving up my day job any time soon! Any donations are much appreciated and I promise they're put to good use. Our account is 12 3042 0255136 02. If you can't donate please share our posts and help find homes for these beautiful creatures. Also if anyone has spare ponds or building materials they'd be happy to donate I'm going to be building a few more ponds. Feel free to message or call me if you want to discuss what's required to rehome a turtle.
Thanks Rebecca
