Meet another local creative at ARTS in the VILLE, 24–26 October!
It’s never too late to discover a passion for painting! Raywin Cruickshank began painting seriously in her mid-60s and has spent the last eight years working in oils. A passionate gardener, she finds endless inspiration in flowers, as well as still life, landscapes and pet portraits.

Old cutlery, clocks, coins and scrap metal can become something surprisingly beautiful! Ron Clark transforms recycled materials into one-of-a-kind jewellery, drawing on his background in printing, publishing and computer graphics. His latest work also explores electro-etching and hammered textures.

Nature is full of inspiration—and Karena Copestake loves bringing that inspiration into her art. A self-taught artist early in her professional journey, Karena explores acrylic painting and coloured pencils, constantly challenging herself to try different styles. Meet another creative joining us at ARTS in the VILLE during 24-26 October!
What happens when an artist treats the studio as a place to play? Shona Cameron is a mixed-media artist and photographer who loves gathering ideas and experimenting. Originally from the Eastern Bay of Plenty and a graduate of Otago School of Art, she now lives and works in Helensville with her artist husband.

Who will you discover at ARTS in the VILLE this Labour Weekend?
Graham Braddock has been painting professionally since 1975—and his connection with New Zealand landscapes runs deep. A two-time Kelliher Art Award winner, Graham has also introduced thousands of schoolchildren to freehand drawing through his workshops. His oil paintings celebrate rural landscapes, coastlines and express his sense of wonder at God’s creation.

24–26 October brings another artists story to ARTS in the VILLE!
Some creative passions stay with us for a lifetime. Colin Harris began drawing at around 10 years old, encouraged by an inspiring teacher at St Peter’s College. He later found a supportive creative home at Māpura Studios and became a much-loved part of the Helensville arts community. Colin sadly passed away in 2023, and this year his artwork will be shown at ARTS in the VILLE in memory of his creativity, friendship and love of art. Come and spend a little time with Colin’s work and remember a local artist who enjoyed our creative community so much.

Labour Weekend is looking creative—meet another ARTS in the VILLE artist! Sometimes creativity begins in unexpected places. William Robert Boyd is a self-taught artist who began painting around 20 years ago as therapy, then sold his first painting just six months later. Today he works from his Helensville studio, painting on canvas and ceramic vases.

Discover local creativity at ARTS in the VILLE, 24–26 October!
What if an unfinished-looking painting is actually completely intentional? South Head artist Because finds beauty in imperfection, following the grain of plywood and allowing chance to become part of the work. His practice also draws on childhood colouring-book memories—the freedom, confidence, and trust of simply making.
