We are saddened to bring the news of the passing of Murdock McDonald, founding father of the Scottish Clans Association Auckland.

Murdock was the driving force of this organisation from its inception, we stand on his shoulders while now progressing the Scottish Clans Association on the next leg of its development.

McDonald, Murdock Stewart. Peacefully on Friday 20 February 2026, aged 96 years. Dearly loved husband of Lois, for 70 years. Loved father of Fiona, Beryl, and Janet. Loved poppa to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of Murdock's life will be held in the Kowhai Chapel, 35 wood Street, Papakura on Wednesday 25 February at 11:00 am.

On behalf of everyone who attended our Ceilidh, we would like to thank Anne-Marie Forsyth and the Auckland Scottish Fiddle Club for providing the music and entertainment for the afternoon keeping the dance floor full.

Thanks also to Paul Brown and Noel Armstrong for singing a few folk songs during a short break from the dancing.

Congratulations to Gilbert Hui Liu for receiving the Scottish Clans Associations Youth Scholarship for this year.

Gilbert is a side drummer for the Papakura Pipe Band and will be attending the RNZPBA Summer School in Christchurch next year.
